There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!

Three other Lodges sent their finest master chess men From Jurnie was a journalist, a Brother with a pen. From Plutip Lodge, a preacher, a Brother from a pulpit. But Central Lodge had slyly sent a ringer as their culprit!
Porter Rockwell faced all three, his theme his Lodge's honor. The journalist had journeyed hence, just the type to be a goner. The preacher's pride was injured to be so easily defeated. But to the Central Lodge contestant, Rockwell at last conceded.
Thus Colonel Kincaid was deprived of the glory he'd envisioned, While Central took the trophy the Home Lodge had commissioned. Rockwell, still a Brother, resumed his duties as the porter Until a bored Colonel Kincaid asked if he was a bocci bowler.
Rockwell admitted he knew the rules, and where a set was kept...
I have no problem at all with a park stroll on Jumble, Ol'Man Keith, especially on a Friday, when the crossword puzzle is tough and the Sudoku is so Diabolical (their word, not mine) that I can't even begin it. So this morning's Jumble was a delight, and I'm delighted the boyfriend is a good match for the young woman is more ways than one.
The words came easily. Sol.: I had the correct word in the first word, but guessed incorrectly for the second word. When I clicked on the first letter, all came clearly.
I knocked this off before tackling the xword. Since I'd already solved but forgot the six Letter J's I allowed Owen to resupply the answers.
The riddle was very well hidden . I take it everyone has solved and no hints are needed.
FLN. Sandy, I refer to my solving as P&I( pen and ink). A troll responded "What other kind of pen is there?".
But to leave out the word "ink" is to ignore the mess I often make.
Btw. Re. OMK and PC's beauty . Themes go right over my head . Which occasionally makes the riddle difficult. But when I throw a bunch of letters together another part of my brain takes over.
Plus. I'm always in a hurry to get to the blog . Since I get the NYT a week late anyway I'll keep the xword around forever until I solve .

PS. I see no envomiume can do Aretha justice .I notice she was in Blues Brothers . Now I need to see that whole movie .
Wilbur, did you intentionally associate pen and mess, as in pigpens are often messy? Kind of subtle. Actually my solutions can get messy because I don't use whiteout, just write over!

Very nice! Neat job, Owen. I'll never know how you manage to bring 'em all home. Kudos!
DeleteBut not his? Rockwell's skills are probably endless.

ReplyDeleteI am still working on the NE corner of today's Xwd. I may have to cheat, as there are two neighboring Naticks in that one sector.
