There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
It was time for the party, soon guests would arrive. The chip dips were ready, cream cheese and chive, Sour cream and onions, ranch and barbecue. Plenty of chips, and corn curls, (and veggies, a few).
As a special treat, prepared just for this day, The bass the host caught, reduced to fillet! The game would start anon, the T.V. was warmed up. Beer and sodas were cold, in those red plastic cups!
The teams were matched up, North versus South. Then half way thru the game, Roger had to ralph! He was running a fever, some others were too. Was it something in the fish? What's a good host to do?
The guy nick-named Doc, declared, "Leave it to me! I see in the back yard, there's a ripe kumquat tree!" He borrowed a knife, drained some sap, it was rich. But it cured the high temperatures. "It's called fever pitch!"
The jumble was pretty straightforward; I really liked the pun. Fabulous poem, Owen, and it made me hungry. But I had to google a couple of unfamiliar idioms -- both real and fake!!
Owen, your Jumble poems are amazing. I tracked each of the clue answers and then, of course, there was the solution. A delight!
I got this Jumble with only a little problem trying to figure out 3. But once I got that, the solution fell right into place, even though I'm not much of a baseball pitcher--I mean, fan.
Back to an easy-peasy Jumble. Can't count on a pattern, I guess. The answer here seemed classic for the J creators.
I was surprised, Owen, to see the solution spelled out, but I liked the extra meaning you gave it & I guess with such a clear final answer there's not much point in being too dodgy.
Words 1 and 2 came easily. I misspelled 3, the vowels were reversed. After studying, I corrected them. On 4 I had a hint on the first letter. Then the word came to me. The Sol. came easily from the puzzle.
Btw, I've read that the hot weather has had a bad effect on the lemon crop in California . The news listed crops affected but no news on the kumquats..
Florida had a freeze a few years ago and the kumquats took a beating.
Oh, no! I see that I forgot to post again. I've been running at a fever pitch all week because I'm expecting guests on Saturday and making preparations. The J was not hard and as usual, Owen, your brilliant poem captured all the relevant words.

I never mind a little give-away--anything helpful is fine with me.
ReplyDeleteThen my post at 1115 EDT must have helped. I forgot about the Left coast.
ReplyDeleteI actually went to the riddle to find the first two letters of #3. Even then it was hard.
