  1. Out in the Nevada desert stands a butte
That once had housed a house of ill repute.
The building now stands forlorn and empty
That once had hosted locals, low and gentry.

Now it hosted only lizards and their prey.
Skulking from drawer to cabinet each day.
Verifying no morsel or crumb is left behind
Where once parties whirled with talk and wine.

Such banquets these walls had once beheld!
Steak and turkey, even lamb, hunger quelled!
Ladies in their finery, gents in their anxiety --
By now all have passed. This pile the memory.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving!
A lot of folk will be speaking the J's lingo today!

  3. I see the poem is about the 11/22 J .But the picture is a re-post of yesterday's Short and Tweet.

    1. So funny, because when I checked last night it was the new jumble. That was before Owen posted his poem. So somehow when he posted it reverted to yesterday's jumble?
Anyway, I did the jumble then. It was pretty easy, with its relevant theme.

Such a sad poem. It's very evocative; I can see the decrepit, abandoned building in my mind.

But for today, Happy.Thanksgiving to all!

    2. Yep! When I posted last night, it was the correct cartoon, but something shifty has occurred.

  4. So, I quickly did the J from the newspaper. For once the riddle popped right out before I could verify the J's .

Everyone: OMK, Lucina(keep an eye out for those lizards), Sandy, Misty and of course Owen .And all the skulkers and lurkers including the beauts (there at the CC) .

  6. Today's J was a breeze. The S came to me immediately even with so many letters.
