|| chair, rainy, behalf, potent, (he was on the) other line. || plight, unwise, simile, cannon, infamy, thwart, at this point in (the) game.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Rainy days were boring, nothing much to do.
ReplyDeleteJust sitting in his chair, and let his cranium stew.
His intellect was potent, so homework was a breeze.
He was tired of hacking on behalf of the Chinese,
He had to find some other line of stuff to do at home.
Maybe working puzzles, or writing silly poems?
Brilliant.
DeleteThe damsel is in peril, a wedding is her plight!
ReplyDeleteShe is due to plight her troth upon the morrow night!
Altho she loves another, the Canon will perform the rite.
By all the literate canon of romances set to right,
Her Lochinvar should ride up soon to thwart the evil wight,
E'en tho castle cannon discharge balls, and smoke of white!
At this juncture, it might not be unwise the simile to cite,
But as the cannons point, they're pointing at the hero's site!
The game it soon is over for the lamented valiant knight.
(But her marriage proves quite happy, and their kids are very bright!)
Awesome.
DeleteI am awed. You are awning.
Jumbles:
ReplyDeleteGot the j4 solution without the clues, which was good, because I had to go back to the third clue with its letters to get that one.
J6 was a tougher nut to crack. The clues came easily, but the obvious totally escaped me for the solution. So I went to your lovely ite/ight poem, Owen. That gave me the direction to go and helped me think of a key word. From that point on, another key word became clear and I had it!
Poems:
The first was indeed clever (but tell me you don't hack for the Chinese, lol). I really love the second one, though. That repetition just builds and builds. And the last anticlimactic "afterthought" completes the wordplay with real finesse.
Your 'potent intellect' is in fine form; I hope you're feeling better physically.
At first I was thinking I was writing about an adolescent god, then about Sheldon Cooper. So no, I never hacked for anyone. ;)
DeleteYikes! In revising my draft, I deleted one of the seed words! The penultimate line should be:
ReplyDeleteThe game in myfian is over for the lamented valiant knight.
I didn't look for it, so I didn't miss it. Good that it's there for anyone who will be looking.
DeleteYes, now I can say it, INFAMY . I only do the six on Sunday. The #2 eluded me for awhile. But I couldn't get the riddle.
ReplyDeletePhil tried to help but there was only one M so GAME or TIME . Lots of T's but I had to change THAT for THIS.
But I got it .
