|| truly, bravo, second, abused, "root" beer. || unfair, wisdom, doctor, outlet, vandal, heyday, you have my word on it.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Genesis 1:29 And God said,
ReplyDeleteBehold, I have given you every herb bearing seed.
It is all for your good use, even if you call it weed.
Use them with discretion, do not abuse their use.
They can be a panacea, to those who see that truth.
Not the seeds alone, but the flowers and the leaves.
Hops for making beer, camomile for making teas.
Roots, stems and bark, many have a second service.
Bravo when you find what I've hidden as their purpose!
Things have changed since my youth,
ReplyDeleteToday's different, and that's the truth!
Then for an outlet, my coaster bike I'd handle.
Today, it's paint cans sprayed by vandals.
Then, a handshake, "you have my word".
Today, so much paper on, it is absurd.
A doctor's wisdom then we didn't doubt.
Anti-vaxxers and herbist are gaining clout.
In my heyday, my looks were a local rage!
How unfair it is the don't improve with age!
Things have changed since my youth,
Now I'm just a curmudgeonly old coot!

ReplyDeletewas no problem, since the solution pun seemed obvious. Only the fourth clue gave me a bit of a pause; maybe I just didn't like the word?
ReplyDeleteJ6 was another thing altogether. None of the clues was a real problem, and they gave me 17 letters. And a logical 17-letter solution came to mind once I saw them. So where did that extra letter in the third solution word come from? Overlay problem?
Like the first poem, but the second one really got to me, Owen. Is there a feminine equivalent of "curmudgeonly old coot"? There should be, for I fit the bill.
Sorry about that. I accidentally hit 'publish' way too soon.
ReplyDeleteI only did the 6*6 but had no problem except on #2 I had DISOWN . I noticed that I still needed an M
ReplyDeleteEasy fix. Owen, we were all heartthrobs in our 'ute( or so we thought).
