Susan didn't exactly decide on snails,
They were pushed on her instead.
Her boyfriend cheerfully ignored her wails,
Said her reluctance was all in her head!
The shells arrived on a tray like deviled eggs,
With her napkin she gingerly raised one.
With a slender fork having two sharp pegs,
She pried out the meat, as her mentor had done.
Dipping in butter made it wetter. It dripped.
Then into her mouth, she feared a harsh flavor.
Although a bit gooey, on her tongue it slipped.
Notably like an oyster, it was worth the savor.
For the record, I've never eaten snails or oysters. Maybe clam chowder. Had to research his one before I could write it.
Me neither. Though I have watched others. With snails, it seems to me that it's all that butter people actually like. With both of them, the word "slimy" inevitably comes to mind, and then "ycckk". Guess I'm not adventurous.
Your poem definitely evokes the experience.
As for the Jumble, it was pretty easy. The clues were no problem and with the letters all there, the solution wasn't either.

Have eaten both snails & oysters, and for a time was a great fan of oysters in their various recipes. Always raw, of course. That was when I spent a spell in the Big Easy & it seemed the thing to do as I tested the famous restaurants. But I do understand why many avoid these treats. Somebody once said the bravest human in history was the one who first dared to sample an oyster.
I forgot to mention the strangest thing I took from yesterday's jumble. At my first glance at the cartoon, I was sure the solution would have something to do with the weird fact of Romeo's beard! I mean what director or actor would stick facial hair on this famously beardless youth?! Sheesh.
Today's jumble presented no such anomalies. It slid down in one gulp, like Oysters Casino.

Well, I thought I might have a perfect Wednesday since I got the crossword (except for that one blank letter), the Sudoku, the Kenken, and all four Jumble words. But I just couldn't figure out the solution. Read your poem carefully, Owen, but still didn't get it and finally had to cheat. Should have gotten it, but I guess I'm just not that into music. Still loved the cartoon, with those little dogs in front and the wife on the computer. So a fun morning all the same, and I loved your French poem, Wilbur!
