There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
All hints are in the comments!

|| || koala, kitty, picnic, fiddle, tickled pink.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

What I love most about this great, funny poem is the weird and eclectic cast of characters. Especially like Spot the kitty; I guess there's no cliche name for a cat the way there is for a dog, so Spot it is. Also liked the monochrome panda; I'm trying to visualize which of the two colors it would be.
Anyway, the clue words in the Jumble were easy, and once I had the letters, it took me only a few moments to see the clever solution. Idioms are so interesting to think about; I googled this one, but there are conflicting stories of its origin.
Woohoo! I got all four Jumble words even though they all looked a little spooky at first. Didn't think I'd get the solution but thought I'd try finding four letter words in the group--KNOT, KITE, CLIP, DIKE, PICK, PILE and so on. And then the most unlikely one turned up, and that gave me the solution. Woohoo! It's always great to come to this site when I've already solved the Jumble because then I can focus on the colorful cartoon and on Owen's delightful and colorful poem--lots of fun this morning. So, thanks, and have a great day, everybody!
Gaga, Minaj, and P!nk are three pop singers I've heard sing and interviewed on Graham Norton, one of the few talk shows I've listened to (closed captioning is seldom in sync on those type shows).
Spot was the name of Data's pet cat on Star Trek: TNG.
In the Dick and Jane primers, the dog is called "Spot," and the name of the cat is "Puff." (It was originally "Little Mew," but changed in later editions--including the one I had in St. Vincent's kindergarten.) ~ OMK

The Teddy Bears are having a picnic,
ReplyDeleteAnd look who else is there!
A koala with a Koca-Kola kick,
And a monochrome panda bear!
They are dancing to hey-diddle-diddle,
And hickory-dickory-dock.
Spot the kitty is playing a fiddle
For a Seuss-ian cat named Spock!
The entertainment didn't stop there,
Lady Gaga stopped by for a drink.
Nicki Minaj, without any care,
Was teased and tickled by P!nk !
Your poem--love it! It's so kee~Yute!

ReplyDeleteI blew it by inking DEFILE for #4. Misty had the right idea - get the 4 letter word .
ReplyDeleteOf course, unlike yesterday, the riddle was right there in the poem.
Owen, gave me the penultimate hint but I'd gone to sleep.
Who was McCartney's partner in Ebony and Ivory? To give a convoluted hint to the solution.

OMG, of course Spot was Data's cat! So chagrined that I forgot that.
ReplyDeleteI found you!!
ReplyDeleteI found it: Stevie W
ReplyDeleteI recognized Gaga and Pink. I'm not cool enough to get Nicki M. Owen, you really had your creative juices flowing this morning.
