|| || aback, tempt, dreamy, shrink, it made "cents".
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Justin was afraid that he was going mad!
ReplyDeleteHe was having dreams that were simply bad!
He went to ask his shrink what to do about
How to get his ailing psyche straightened out.
He described his nightly scenes of utter terror,
As a grocery cashier, he made error after error!
He was selling cruisers for a dollar eighty cents,
While a bunch of turnips were an immense expense!
The doc was taken much aback by this revelation.
Justin was a salesman, a master of persuasion!
But still the big temptation was too good to pass up.
Doc bought a forty footer yacht, for only fourteen bucks!
I love the end of the poem; laughed out loud. And that is definitely some grocery store!
ReplyDeleteThe jumble was pretty easy, although I originally thought of a more sensible solution than was the case. Once the letters were all there, of course, it became clear.
We had that word in a Xword recently which made the solution simple. For my ninety second solve I used half on #3.
ReplyDeleteSomebody shared a meme about cashiers discouraging paying fe $5.25 for a $4.25 purchase "too confusing/mathematically challenging!"

Hilarious poem, Owen, it too made me laugh--many thanks. I zipped right through this Jumble. Got all four words without any problem, and got the solution even before I checked the letters to make sure that it was right. That too cracked me up. Liked the cartoon but can't figure out what the reporter on the bottom left is holding. You'd expect a camera, but it sure doesn't look like one, does it? Anyway, these Jumbles are a treat every morning--thanks David and Jeff (even though I suppose they never check in with us).
