The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

The storm is getting windy, hear the lightning crack!
ReplyDeleteInside the lonely cottage, the sisters cackle cack!
It's time to make their supper, a savory newt stew,
And afterwards concoct their special witches brew!
Into the heating cauldron, ingredients are dumped.
Horned toad, toenail mold, snot from elephant's trunk!
Blue-bird's beak, eye of creep peeping in their window.
(It was the final view for a hobo, with just his bindle.)
The stew they deem is better than their usual fare.
The broth, it makes a potion to raise anybody's hair!
The wicked stuff they bottle, to sell on the dark web.
A virus to change cellphone addicts into the living dead!
A poem full of commentary. I'm not an addict, per se, but I do feel a momentary touch of panic if I leave home without my phone.
ReplyDeleteThe humble was pretty easy, especially the clues. And once I spread out the letters, the solution was easy too. Obvious, actually.
Humble jumble, I guess. Typos can be fun sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSandy nailed it. This "humble" was indeed easy, maybe the most obvious solution we have seen, preceded by four easy-peasy words.
ReplyDeleteTumble me Bumble! Who could stumble over this jumble?
Owen's poem is a real delight. The weird sister are at it again. His way with words continues to amaze. I especially enjoyed "cackle cack" and "snot from elephant's trunk."

A fun poem, Owen--many thanks. I can see how the words suggested the witches' theme to you. I breezed through this Jumble, getting every single word without a problem. I knew the last word of the solution was going to be what one hopes for when getting a new place to live, and that of course made the beginning fall delightfully into place. Bet those critters are going to enjoy looking at the snow-capped mountains and the river coursing below!
ReplyDeleteMisty, you have perfected commentary without reveal . I too got this one tout de suite.
ReplyDeleteThe witches (not so nice) only want the eyes of those salamandars. When hobos eye hags toiling troyblt is brewing.
