ReplyDeleteMoreover, they're handing me Spoonerism opportunities one after another. Today's example comes from the wave of anti-Dixie sentiment that's been sweeping the country lately. In some communities, they are now assessing financial penalties on organizations continuing to maintain statues of Confederate army leaders.
These are the so-called Jeb Stuart-levies, Stonewall Jackson-taxes, & R.E.Lee-fines.

Oh my, you're right, Ol'Man Keith--this sure was an easy Jumble this morning, wasn't it? Got all four words without having to play with the letters, and the solution was just impossible to miss. Couldn't wait to see your gloss, Ol'Man Keith and it was just as cute and clever as I expected. But I have to say I still loved this Jumble. The cartoon colors are just wonderful--making that scene so bright and cheerful and fun, with those sweet kitties. The perfect ending to a morning when I also got the Sudoku and Kenken quickly, though, of course, not the puzzle. Hey, it's Saturday. Best wishes for a good weekend.

ReplyDeleteI finally figured it out - similar to yesterday's purrfect solution.
I skipped over to the xword and talk about beleaguered. But I knew that slugger or should I say sluggah.
One thing about my solve is to get all the clues into my brain and then go about My Saturday business which was a MTG and breakfast.
When I sat down at Winn Dixie it all started falling like dominoes
Moral: keep at it
But we do like to get into the CC before dark

The merciless and seemingly invulnerable Smaug is intent on destroying the town. Could the intrepid Bowman, Bard save his friends and family? And what of the Thrush? Let's find out...

Alarm bells rang , it was what Bard had always feared
He'd have a hefty chore defending the beleaguered town
Those not incinerated would most likely drown.
An infinite shower of arrows proved to no avail
Those that hit their target merely bounced off the serpent's mail
Dragon strength and feline cunning had come to comprise
The futility of struggle and Laketown's certain demise.
Bard was down to the black arrow he mustn't rush
When a voice was heard, could it be that thrush
"Aim under the left breast, Bard and send it true"
Strange advice, strange source but somehow sounding true
And there was Smaug in all his glory and his pride
And there was the target and the noble Bowman let it ride
Yes the humble Hobbit had devined the fatal flaw
The bolt flew straight and thus it was the dragon's last hurrah.
Ironically, I'm watching "The Battle of the Five Armies" right now. The movie doesn't follow the book to closely.

OMK, my Harry Potter comes from the books although I might have seen one of the movies. Even when I see movies I often don't notice the actors.

Alas. I only read the first Potter book and haven't seen any of the films.
We are opposite in this, as I'm familiar with the actors who portrayed the parts, so am thinking of the various weights and tones they would have brought to a reading.
