|| || again, gross, trench, always, was a strain.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

  1. The sadistic first-responder viewed the wrecked vehicle with the driver pinned behind the wheel.
"Forget the 'jaws of life'," he said. "This is the guy who slammed the other car.
Bring me the 'jaws of pain'!"

  2. The jumble solution is a perfectly legitimate(!) pun. But somehow not funny -- to me at least.

Really hoping for some poems from other people today, not me. I am worried about Owen, though. He posted the wrong words to yesterday's jumble and no poems yesterday or today. Owen, are you ok?

  3. She searched for the worst spoonerism ever. So she consulted a historian who tried to help her find a monarch who took over his brother's kingdom, because he "saw a reign."

Oh yes, Owen. We really need you and your poem.

  4. This is just to fill in...

    She lost her diamond brooch—again!
    She‘s always losing things
Last year she lost ten keys, a pen,
And a gross of wedding rings.

She lost the brooch in a garden plot,
So they have to dig to find it.
    They’ve ploughed a rut, a ditch, a moat,
And a trench with a mine inside it

  5. Kudos on getting all those clues into your neat and effective poem, OMK.
I do have one wuestion: is she a wedding ring thief, or did she just get married an unbelievable number of times?

  6. Dunno, Sandy. Better ask her.

    Here's the final stanza:
They strain through all the dirt and grime and
Mud. They cry, “But still there’s hope!”
She’s dubbed it her “Hope Diamond”
Through her tears--and refuses to mope.

  7. Last I heard, she has had some "understanding" hubbies. At least some of the bands were replacements.

  8. Sorry I'm so late and bearing no gift. I'll double up tomorrow.

Having solved Tuesday I'd forgotten #4 and when Sandy said OMK had all four J's I still couldn't find it. So I had to
find my newspaper insert which fortunately I brought back from up north.

We used to have a getaway place in North NH (half hour north of LOON Mtn.) So the travel back in forth is familiar. I remember that NH Staties* used to patrol through the air. My guardian angel told me to slow down and the Statie blew past looking for me.

Perhaps I subconsciously heard the plane. I did have my glasses on though.

  9. "The Maiden's Loss"

She may not find it AGAIN
So she grieves alone in her den.
    Her jewelry is mostly GROSS
    So she's reluctant to suppose
She lost it inside a TRENCH
    Or underneath her bench.
But her faith is strong ALWAYS
    With hope in glittering rays.
And so, one day, we're told
They found her ring of gold.
    Making her wails of pain
    Turn into a joyful STRAIN.

(Personally, I think if she lost a stupid ring she should just get over it and get on with her life. But that's just my personal opinion).

  10. GOOD WORK, --good job getting all the J words in.
I hadn't tried it before myself, so now I appreciate what a challenge it can be.
If yours is a continuation of my clumsy "She," you are giving her more love & loyalty than she rec'd at my hands.
(Presumably it was the "one" of her many lost rings that she felt so attached to.)
