  1. The census is here, oh dear!
    Another decennial year.
It is the time, to sum it up,
When our numbers are offered up.

    The numerators on us spring
To ask about our -- everything!
    (Except about our citizenship,
They tried, but SCOTUS nixed it!)

They'll ask bluntly, name and age?,
To fill out the survey page.
They'll not try to get too chummy,
Won't even break to play some rummy!

  2. FLN, OMK, how about "Who's he"? for woozy. Also, yes it has been 20 years since I read the (first three) books.

And, the Gnu's response? "How now, brown owl".

I thought I'd solved this yesterday but found I hadn't grok'ed #4. But, the riddle-solution popped and having the second and fourth letters finally got the tricky J.
    .
Which Owen in his inimitable versing nicely presented. Particularly liked your comeback l'ick on the J Sunday and everything since is W material.

  3. The Unfeeling Season?
    -or-
(to give a Spooner its proper "ism")
    No Numb Summers

If you took a census of all the sunbathers
in spring and in summer, you'd find rummy facts--
among them that sun blocking lotions aren't favored
because they deactivate skin. They act
like menth'lated lotions; they dull & blunt
    one's flesh just when sensitivity's
the sine qua non. We prefer to confront
the warm feeling body of a welcome new she
with fresh nerve cell endings in pelts that ain't numb
than worry about decades of damage to come.

  4. Sorry, Wilbur ~ I either overlooked "Who's he" or took it as a hint at the solution. Easy to get lost in those "w" and "h" phonemes.

So you deserve an extra Woohoo...

  5. "Joe's Good Day"

Young Joe had a sore tummy,
    needed meds that were rummy--
    the solution was blunt,
    he stopped having to grunt.
He soon felt like a king
    romping fields in the spring,
    climbing over the fences--
    a happy kid, our con-census.
    At night did his math
    and added his numbers,
    then got a warm bath,
    and had wonderful slumbers.

  6. That's good! "Con-census" is good!
Thank you, Misty, for that unexpected touch.
    No, it's not too much.

    And Owen, even earlier,
    You can't get much pearlier
    than "nixed it"
    & "citizenship."

    We all have solutions
    for avoiding verbal contusions...

  7. Dear Keith, you are so kind
to give us so much mind.
Now we too must be fair
and let you know how rare
    we find your brilliant arts
That give our days our starts.
And so we highly rank you,
And give you our warm thank you.

  8. OMK, I loved your vulgar imagery on the Corner!

BTW, the jumble was not at all difficult. I was of two minds about the solution, but after thinking about it, decided I like the humor, and find the double senses very punny.

  9. P.S. Ol'Man Keith, by "rare" I didn't mean we found your brilliance infrequent, only that we found extra-special.

  10. THANKS, Sandy ~ I wasn't sure how the anagrams would play in the Corner. I appreciate your appreciation!

Misty ~ Thank you for the clarification. What an amiable compliment!
Truth to tell, my poetry MAY become less frequent. I get excited by an idea, start shaping a poem, and forget how long it may be before I'll be finished. I don't think I can do this every day. We are not all up to Owen's standard.
Time will tell. It may not be easy to turn this off, or dim it down.
    ~ OMK
