Boys' Pear-Plus
Classic movie villains were often of a type.
Greenstreet was a favorite--obese but dignified,
stodgy yet cagey. He was quick to snipe
at foes--The Fat Man deliciously snide.
His roles played up his love of food,
a "humanizing" touch. He'd gladly uncork
a wine of rare vintage, tuck into crus
fruits de mer or savor a forkful of pork.
He consumed quantities, but avoided Wheaties
& wholesome foods. He died of diabetes.

Not only not stodgy but a Lefty to boot
Inexperienced but nothing if not astute.
Man on first winning run on second base
Runner steals, other goes home, a classic case
Billy, hardly a boisterous sort, was stubborn
"I'll have none of that he staunchly warned."
And so the play unfolded and the runner did go
And Billy arose as if to uncork a throw
But faked the throw to second and without a word
Caught the runner red-handed off of third
Alas Bobby at third was off in daydream land
And the perfect throw went awry off his hand
And even the most obese Little Leaguer could
Prance his way home and there he stood.
So nothing will stump you guys. I bow to your ingenuity.

Woohoo! Two amazing poems to accommodate the cool and complex words of this morning's delightful Jumble. I loved getting the solution to those fighting little boys. And then came the terrific poems. Now we just need Owen to give us another cheer. Thank you, everybody!

The runner that scored was on third base not second. Misty, you probably caught that error skilled as you are in baseball strategy.

Sandy, the J's for the past week or so have been decidedly Ivanhoe unfriendly. I still may try to pick up the narrative.

He seems to be heeding our several calls that he take time off for himself.
So do we really want to reverse gears and demand that he return? I know we're concerned for his health, but other than that, shouldn't we support his time off?

Hey, OMK, I hope I didn't sound as though I were demanding anything. Sometimes concern can sound like pressure, when it's only concern. I want Owen to take care of himself, but that inevitably includes worrying about him.
