  1. With Cedric safely back in the camp of the besiegers
The Black Knight took command planning to beleaguer
The defenders by funneling the attack on the postern gate
It was there at the hands of that knight that De Boeuf met his fate

If the illegal cabal had known it was Coeur de Lion returned
They'd surely have regretted siding with the petulant Prince
And it was Front de Boeuf who tried to deny him admittance
That received a fatal blow for which few would ever mourn.

Meanwhile the unwed Rebecca had climbed upon a ledge
To relate to the injured Ivanhoe that the battle was in full swing.
"Such might, such valor Yonder knight is one to whom I'd pledge
My honor, much like the Crusader Knight, Richard the King".

  2. Thank you, thank you, Wilbur, for this incredibly helpful Tuesday morning gift! I had trouble with the fourth Jumble word, and was totally stumped by the solution. So I came here, hoping for Ol'Man Keith's usual help. But instead I found your complex, lively Cedric and Rebecca story, and there were all four Jumble words including the missing fourth. Yay! And once I had that, I got the solution and your verse confirmed it. How you managed to come up with this complicated verse with all four words and the finish so early in the day just amazes me.

Many, many thanks for this great help. I have a phone meeting at 10:30 and so had to start early, and it's great to have this done. I just hope all is well with Ol'Man Keith and that he'll check in with us soon.

  3. I'm OK, just not up to snuff.
Nothing serious, but the pace can get rough.
    I must take the advice we often give Owen;
sometimes the mileage just starts a-showin'.

Time for me now to be more of a reader
    than a leader
    in the daily verses
or it turns into Keith versus
    Keith
when I should opt for relief.

  4. Tribute to Our Hero

Dear Keith, go back to bed
With a pillow under your head.
    And since you're not unwed,
You'll be cared for and well fed.

Taking a break is perfectly legal
Even if you're not a regal.
And it's not like you're in hiding
When you rest from chores and siding.

Dream of being in a funnel,
    Better yet, a comfy tunnel,
In a place where you can rest
Like a hero, with the best.

    (P.S. Tell her she's not a poet,
Just in case she doesn't know it.)

  5. Thank you, Misty.

Not to drop out entirely, here is a shallow dip of my oar:
Q: During the Civil War, Britain was torn at first whether to side with the Union or the Confederacy.
Which CSA state supplied Liverpool's docks with so much cotton it was known as the Wool King?
    A: Mississippi.
(What?! You were expecting maybe Alabama?)

  6. Seems the Black Knight
    showed his might
    in a bone-cracker brawl,
    giving his all
    to demolish de Boeuf,
    no powder-puff.

    We must thank our story-teller
    for sparing us the meller-
    drama, the common rabble-
    rousing details of a battle.
    The news is delivered here
    by those who merely hear
    of the outcome. What cheer!

  7. Misty, glad I could help. You mentioned at the CC: "Nice to see DESILU, well, DESI and LUCY, in the puzzle for two days in a row."

I couldn't post this at CC but for your ears only: You're going for three.

Why could I deliver early? Because I have the full week of xwords and jumbles in the Sunday TB-Times as an insert.

Woohoo. I did Tues and Wednesday on Monday.

    Now to start poetizing.

Ironically, when being linked from CC to YouTube suggested videos pop-up. First it was a Desi Arnez interview with Johnny Carson with Bob Hope and Mr "I don't get no respect" Sitting next to Desi.

Then on the next link Google suggests a LUCILLE BALL* interview with Johnny. I skipped that one.
