ReplyDeleteNot much to say about j6. Clue five took a little extra time. The solution definitely related to the cartoon, but my personal reaction to it was meh. YMMV.
Yes, I remember having a problem with that fifth clue before as well.
ReplyDeleteGood morning California!!! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I did run in the 80s but my runs were not peaceful jogs, just heavy breathing and sweat. Somewhere around 1 1/2 - 2 miles I would begin a smooth pace. But I didn't keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting busy all day yesterday, travelled N to my second home in Dunellon and fell asleep watching Rays vs Astros. Yeah Rays.
I'll check out Sunday J at breakfast. I have to buy a TB-Times with weeks worth of xwords as an insert.

Say, Owen, for what it's worth, the Chicago Tribune site appears to have a new Sunday jumble up now; at least it's not familiar. It's about antiques. Maybe they were just running very late???

Sure, Misty, I think that it is today's Sunday Jumble, so we should deal with that one. See my comment above. I went ahead and solved it on the Chicago Trib site. The clues were not particularly hard, and I thought the solution clever enough. Go for it!

Saw the Nobel Jumble posted here and checked the Antiques Jumble in the Times. Feels like a good day to catch up on my sleep.
I'm going to mix a Bloody Mary and take the rest of the papers out to the patio.
I think I'll just spectate today.

Yep, the Sunday Jumble is up now! I took it from the USAToday site, so we get the cartoon in color, but not quite as sharp. I'll post the solution to the first two now, but wait till about 6 MDT to post the last.

that gave her a lot of sharp pain.
Her boss, who liked to hobnob
nearly made her lose her job.
He was hardly the wisest
and never the kindest.
All he did was to chatter
about every small matter.
Jane was in such a plight
that she finally took flight.
She decided to swerve
so better work she could serve.
Jane now has a new job
with a kind boss to hobnob.
And for what it was worth
she's now a woman of mirth.
I couldn't help myself. Here it is, a rough first draft, but I must get back to my nap!

ReplyDeleteAnd, Ol' Man Keith, we did it! And not only came up with poems (of sorts) but with hints of a similar them--inspired by the complicated set of words, I suppose.

I was running around all day. I did manage to solve the CC (FIW) and got onto that blog but am just getting in here.

Ever get a J-word (#3) that you just can't grok? Knowing that the solution will be obvious? And I had the two letters!!
I guess I wasn't very wise today.
Both of those poems were terrific. Misty with the boss from hell and OMK possibly giving us personal experience in rhyme.

Not exactly personal experience, Wilbur, but close to some chats growing up in the west and moving on to New England schools and then old school Virginia.

I'm not in my 90s yet, but I can remember. The Dewey v. Truman contest didn't come anywhere close to the indecency factor introduced into the White House by the current occupant.
