  1. No cost? At all? I think not.
The coupons were no cost all right.

FLN: I want to say that it's always very sad to lose a beloved dog.
Not to disparage Misty's loss at all, but my grandson coincidentally suffered one as well just two days ago. In his case his well-loved, but old and tired hunting partner suffered a ruptured spleen and he had to take her to the vet to be put to sleep. I know this rough-hewn man of the woods held her and cried when she went.

    ANYWAY...

  2. FLN Misty ~ That is terrible news about Dusty. I was so saddened to read it. It is a fear we share for our two little dogs. We worry all the time with all the coyote sightings in our neighborhood.
I know how very much you love that little guy. It is the one downside to living with a dear pet--that we will almost invariably outlive him & must always be prepared to mourn a great loss.
The end must be doubly difficult if it occurs abruptly and savagely. But such a passing is surely outweighed--by far--by the years of love and comfort you gave to one another.
Janice joins me in sending our love to you.

  3. Misty, that's horrific news. I'd come to love Dusty through your love of that dear dog.

Please accept my prayers and condolences. My heart goes out to you.

The middle word was a given and the way I jot down letters:middle, left, right, left gave me the first word. Then the last word was duck soup.

    1. Ps, I missed a lot of conversation fln.
The commentators were extremely harsh on the Rays Cash. Rightly so. WS on the line, Snell the only hope.

  4. "Betraying Ones' Comrades"
    -or-
    "Three for the Faking"
By the time our plot to frame ol' Frank
    and his crooked outfit emerges,
we'll have robbed the National Bank
in their place. Thus a friendship diverges.

  5. Thank you all for your very kind comments. It was a help to be able to share the news with you last night. I phoned and spoke to my son but then need another outlet, and felt comfortable coming here to tell you about it. So thank you again, for your kind condolences. They are much appreciated this morning.

  6. "In Trouble"

    Frank played some nasty pranks
for which no one would give him thanks.
    His victims did blame him
and worked hard to frame him.
    They caused him to split
    from his job and outfit.
    But he did then emerge
to try to stop this purge.
    Getting down on one knee
    his apology was key.
    So his victims stopped taking
    revenge, by then staking
    their hopes that his quaking
    meant he was not faking.

  7. Misty ~ I am glad to see that, even with your sad loss, you are able to post a poem. Concentration on solving pzls and creating a response is one effective way of drawing one's mind out of sorrow.
    At least for a while.

Your "Frank" seems related to mine. Indeed it seems he's the leader of the other half of the crime gang, or outfit, that my half set up to take the fall. Thus our friendship diverged.
Yep, my guys managed to ace your Frank out of the heist they planned together. And Frank's attempted apology cut no ice with us.
So much for honor among thieves, eh?

Sorry, Wilbur ~ The Rays couldn't cut the mustard.
It's convenient to blame Cash for yanking Snell, but one pitcher-change doth not a championship make.
Take consolation in their AL pennant. As Sandy says, the Rays will be around for a while longer.

  8. The more I study your poem, Misty, the more I see that Frank brought it on himself.
He was obviously a crummy partner, pulling his "nasty pranks," not a very trustworthy comrade.
I'm glad he tried to atone, but it's clear he didn't really deserve his cut of the pie.

  9. Oh, Misty, I'm so sorry when I read just now of your tragedy! Despite all the physical pain I'm in right now, I'd rather this than what you must be going thru! 😢 I'm sure it must have felt like a final piece of your dear Roland being torn out of you! Take care, and when the worst of the pain passes, I hope you can find another pet, not to take Dusty's place, but to make a new place in your heart for love.

  10. Thank you for your very kind condolences, Owen. No, your physical pain is more serious, but you're right, that losing Dusty was a sad memory of losing his twin sister Misty in exactly the same way, by a coyote, just three months before we lost Rowland. Poor Rowland was devastated, and I would like to just imagine him up there in the sky with both doxies loving and licking him like they did in real life.

Wilbur, thank you for loving Dusty too.

And Ol'Man Keith, thank you for the kind comments and play on the poetry.
