The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
My source for the high def B&W puzzles was Void for today and forward, except for the 26th for some odd reason. I'll keep checking, but meanwhile it's back to the lower res, so I just posted the color picture over it.
ReplyDeleteNote: Today's title is a Spoonerism hinting at the poem's conclusion, whereat...
ReplyDelete"... Ever[y] Nose [Knows] Gold!"
Nobody likes a stinky room.
You can plug in Glade, or spray it around,
and its fresh-air fragrance sweeps like a broom.
First, use the wiper (included) to scrub the walls down.
Next, hoover the floors, the ceilings as well.
Apply elbow-grease: it's you versus germs!
Kill all ants and roaches, send 'em to hell;
wash all the dishes, rinse and dry by turns
to be sure the job is thorough. Mustn't take a chance.
Not a smidgen of dirt is invited to this dance.
When all this is done, take the trash out,
then use your Glade to spread scent about.
Trust your nose to know you've a gem of a nest.
(Or is it precious metal? Both are odor-less.)

"Long Love"
ReplyDeleteWhen Dotty still wore a diaper
Nanny was her kindly wiper.
The family lived in a glade
and had many servants they paid.
But of choices, these and versus,
Nanny was the best of the nurses.
Dotty loved her and let nobody
else put her on the potty.
But, like all children, she grows,
and she'll grow up, as Nanny knows.
But she prays their relationship never
will be one that Dotty will sever.
Now Nanny is disabled and old,
but Dotty still treats her like gold.

ReplyDeleteA sweet--both earned & much deserved--tribute to Nanny!
If only all relationships between young and old were so warm and reliable, we wouldn't need Social Security. Old-fashioned conservatives would say we see the precursor here of the "Nanny State."
For such good ol' days I would snuggle,
when love pre-empted class struggle.
Your poem flows very nicely. From beginning to end it keeps a neat balance between end stops and run-ons.

Thank you for the very generous comment on my poem, Ol' Man Keith. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a delightful GLADE story, with so much hard work to keep that house clean and beautiful. Wish mine were even a bit like that. Well, maybe after our cleaners come on Saturday.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI meant to point out that if you would just do so "much hard work," you'd end up with no scent at all...
Meaning no need at all for Glade
or similar products.

I NEVER got the riddle-solution. I had GROWS but in the wrong place. Two excellent poems. Misty you have progressed nicely
ReplyDeleteGotta run again
Back later
Ps, Misty if you ever gonna FIR a Saturday tomorrow's it. IMHO I'm a bad judge
Me neither, Wilbur. It stumped me.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course Peter Pan was from NEVER Land.
ReplyDeleteMy friends 10 year old boy was in a youth production of same. Kids can really emote

Speaking of... Happy Shakespeare birthday, OMK. Hope you have a good reunion and pleasant memories of productions of yore

Thanks, Wilbur!
ReplyDeleteAs for the solution, just check my Spooner. The solution rhymes with it (minus the bracketed bits).
