ReplyDeleteThe fillies were not quite two when they made their exodus.
It was a strange event, for five to leave the herd.
One colt went with them, totaling six, for a reason unknown to us.
Perhaps they were frightened by enemies horned or furred.
But why would they leave the safety of their kind ?
Was the cause social or genetic?
Did they hear a growling in the bush?
Did they see deep threatening ruts?
Late afternoon golf nuts, lingering over putts?
Were there predators with bared fangs, vile & splenetic?
I see I may ask of thee & ponder this past dawn,
But we shall never know why, nor where they may have gone...

"Repentance"
ReplyDeleteWhen Sammy stole her favorite sole
he felt he achieved a delightful goal.
He now had a fish and a filly,
but was no longer friends with Milly.
She now considered him seedy,
which made him feel lonely and needy.
He realized he needed an exodus
from his crimes, which caused such a fuss.
He apologized and said he'd repent
and from his behavior relent.
He now tries to be social and honest
in an effort to do his best.
Milly forgave him and for his new role
she even bought him another sole.
Now there's a fish story, eh Misty?

ReplyDeleteI wanted to take the second word literally, and it got me off to a decent--if somewhat mysterious--start, but I ended up having to employ phonetic trickery just to be able to include the first word.
Yours, as I said, seemed the most natural--"conversational"--and I like that.
Misty, I had some chuckles imaging your couple in their dispute over fish! Even to the extreme of Sammy's purloining his partner's fave sole as a special goal of his--clearly something he lived for.
Poor Milly: she's taking a chance of becoming fish-poor again, hanging out with an EZ-catch sort a guy. Better she should drop a few traps for him!
