The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Gotta kick outta being a member of our "Jumble blogspot / Ship of fools"...
Makes us sound like a band of wistful... What shall we call ourselves? ...our tidy crew of philopoeticists?

  2. "Fourth Feud"

We were keen to celebrate the Fourth,
and so visited family up north.
We made a trip to a local arcade,
where many fun games we played.
But a number of quarrels arose
among cousins who chose to oppose.

Although most were just a tidbit
they still produced quite a snit,
    and cousin Ken angrily swung
at my brother, whose feelings he stung.
    Brother Benny, generally humbly,
    became pretty angry and grumbly
and kicked cousin Ken in the fibula
    and thereby bruised his tibula.

    Now grandfather had enough,
he wanted no more of this stuff.
He said, "I want these quarrels to cease
and want everyone to keep peace.
Let us all share a meal and a pie,
and celebrate the Fourth of July."
So respect for our nation won the day
And made cousins once again happily play.

  3. That's a happy message, Misty, for our Independence Day.
If Grandpa's message could only play today!
We need to find the way to regain respect and a truce
for our fellow citizens, despite opposing views!

    A joyous & Happy Fourth-of-July to you!

In case you're watching, here's wishing you a Happy Fourth!
You've probably heard this one a million times, but it was new to me:

I was watching the Great British Baking Show, and one of the hosts was a comedienne named Sandi. A contestant named Sandy came on the program, and the co-host Noel asked,
"What do we call a group of Sandys?"
    --and the answer was,
    "A Beach."
So along with A Murder of Crows, we now have a Beach of Sandys.

  5. Fln, Misty, it was "stupid" to add Tabasco to the recipe.

Re. "Fools", you must admit we're a zany bunch. And we love your optimism.

I never caught that obvious word, so me to miss it. I finally grok'ed FIBULA.. Now to dream up some poetry..

"Sandy" in golf lingo is up and down from the "Beach". OMK, glad you saw my gist; we are a merry bunch.

    Now, back to Sunday

Wow, bedlam at grandpa's 4th of July fete. Those cousins were competing, feisty and fighting.

Much like the founders until Ben suggested a timeout and prayer for guidance. Which George hastily approved

  6. [Chet responds to John, his Sponsor]
It was when I humbly asked Him to remove the obsession
That the arcade game that was my life ended. I was on a mission.
I was willing to accept the principles, especially honesty.
I learned that we don't fib in the rooms, never mind lie.

I was not opposed to the fourth step , those defects
That we are so slow to admit even when we once detect
Them. They'd sprung up over time - It's a disease of progression.
Mere tidbits at first, later to develop into a deadly obsession.

  7. Thank you for your very kind message, OMK. Much appreciated and enjoyed.

And, Wilbur--you did it. Took me a few minutes, but there they were, all six Jumble words and reference to the solution, in Chet's conversation with his sponsor.
And yes, it took me a minute to get the fib--very nice.
