The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
Starting Mon., July 19, 2021:
ReplyDelete"An Irregular Jolt"
The emcee for the concert version
of Hello, Dolly!
suddenly chanted "I Am The Walrus."
--as unexpected an excursion
(I am he as you are me)
as to a rodeo with a cowgirl trollop,
on a steed you walloped into a gallop,
well tended by his groomsmen three
in a manner sharing & chivalrous.

"Romance Blip"
ReplyDeleteHe dated a nice girl named Dolly
because he found her so jolly.
His job as a comic emcee
often filled her with laughter and glee.
She never made a fuss,
even when he brought home a walrus.
The critter would turn and gallop,
and enjoyed eating a scallop.
And so their romance bloomed
until they bride-and-groomed.
When he finally agreed to sell
his walrus, she was happy as well
that they were finished with that folly,
and Dolly could again be jolly.
I hope Owen is OK.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first posted last night, there was no new date. So I added my new poem at the end of the 7/18 postings. This morning I found only this curious page, presumably his work.
Owen, please let us know how you're doing!

I sure hope he had a pool,
ReplyDeleteor a beachfront home.
I can't imagine the walrus happy w/o one or the other.
I like how they "bride-and-groomed"! It feels like a strange shorthand, although longer than "married."
I think Dolly is a good sport, putting up with a galloping walrus. She probably had to feed him too, maybe buckets & buckets of scallops. No wonder she put jollyness on hold for a while.

I'm doing fine. The websites I get the postings from, however, are not. At least they haven't been for the past 2 days. For Sunday I think I'm going to have to expect that, but not having anything to post until 3 in the morning on a weekday was, I dearly hope, an anomaly.
ReplyDelete[Chet and Lois are billing and cooing]
ReplyDeleteThat first night I liked what I saw; I spotted you at first glance
Though you were hardly well groomed; oh those khaki pants
You could have passed for an emcee if I'd had my jollies
Another thing I liked, you had no eye for the dollies
We're so different. For me it's John Lennon when I think of the walrus
And for you it's some golfer, Stadler, who could be driving a bus
But Lois, my dear, though my persona is hardly fizzle and pop
When it came to chasing you down I came running on the gallop
WC
The Walrus was one great golfer who won the Masters and a boatload of $money
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you wondered how I'd fit today's J into the Chet and Lois saga?
WC
Misty ,
ReplyDeleteDolly must have been as happy as a clam
She couldn't complain, her beau had to be what he am
Now on Keith's Rodeo circuit
Tout le monde est tres magnifique
WC
So...instant attraction for Chet and Lois. They seem to be firmly attached now; I hooe they continue to "bill and coo" for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of serious golfers, Wilbur, how about our California boy?
ReplyDeleteCollin Morikawa just set a new standard for youthful drive, coolly walking off with the Claret Jug!
If Stadler is the Walrus, Collin must be the game's Golden Trout.
I don't follow sport regularly, so I admit to not knowing of the "Walrus" of the links. I googled him and see that his physique must give lotsa encouragement (and maybe some of Sandy's "hooe" [with hooola"?]) to all the guys out there with Dad Bods.

Good to see your note, Owen.
ReplyDeleteIt was the combination that bugged me a bit. I know you've been finding your sources unreliable, so that can hold you up on posting a new day.
But then when the new page came up-- with strange words instead of the date stamp--I began to worry.
Glad all is OK with you. As for our having to wait for a later posting time, please know we are nothing but grateful. Take all the time you need!
~ OMK
OMK, you do know that was a typo, right? Guess you're making a joke?
ReplyDeleteOl'Man Keith, what a complicated, intriguing first verse--I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, you're so right, that poor walrus really needed a pool or a beach, so that's probably why they sold him--to get him a better home. And thank you for commending Dolly for her support.
Wilbur, I loved the conversation between Chet and Lois today, billing and cooing just the way lovers talk to each other. And thank you for the kind verse on Dolly.
