The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

  1. Well, yesterday's is probably a better pun than this one, technically, but this one is funnier. Yesterday's set a very low bar for humor, though.

    I like that cabin.

  2. Ivory’ing it up
    (In the city,
    at least in winter time.)

    Large pockets of grime
fill streets in volume, but snow
    tops all—like icing.

  3. "Double Generosity"

Linda is finally earning a living
which makes her happy, and devoting to giving
help to folks who are having a tough time,
living in grime, and victims of crime.

Using money from her own pocket
she bought one of these women a pretty locket
and managed to help her rent a room
in a quiet area of low volume.

The icing of this gift was the ultimate perk:
getting her a job doing satisfying work.
And now that this woman is making a living,
she too has become devoted to giving.

  4. You did it again, Ol' Man Keith--all the Jumble words and solution in your brief haiku. God job.

Owen and Wilbur, hope you check in with us this week. We miss you.

  5. Misty ~ I like how Linda's conduct in the 1st stanza leads to a future of generous conduct for her protégé in the 3rd stanza.
Story lines, whether in short poetry, plays, or long novels, always benefit from final stanzas or chapters that echo the opening.

In real life, this is "Paying it forward," and you give us a clear poetic example in your arc.

  6. Thank you for your kind response, OMK. I loved the winter theme of your own verse this morning, especially the "Ivory'ing" it up, taking the place of 'living it up' in your title. All that winter whiteness--lovely!

  7. "So Chet, how's your sponsee Eddie coming along? Any progress?"
"He's a puzzle. One day he shows zest for the program, more or less
Then he starts acting a little fuzzy. 'Are you okay, Ed? No fibs,
If you've been drinking I'd prefer you be honest if I had my dibs'".

"Let's face it, you don't spend time at that seedy bar eating taffy
I may not be the sharpest thorn on the rosebush but I'm not daffy"

  8. Misty, I like the change of pace you gave us today. I was listening to Delilah on the radio and a couple had 28 years. They met on a blind date and got married a month later. That's worth a Misty poem, eh?

OMK, working in fibula, taffy , fuzzy makes for quite a puzzle, eh?

Sandy, I had to toss out fab, iul etc and it finally hit me. Yep those Z's made the riddle-solution easy.

Did anybody like my NCAA song/poem. It's like 100 lines but I'll post the whole thing if I get any encouragement.

Lemonade, it's good to see you drop in here. Feel free to post a Wordle. I'm going to solve today in a sec.
