The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
"A Wide Amount of Rhyme"
ReplyDeleteBart's motive was to create an illusion
with a certain amount of confusion.
He decided to sculpt a module
as a tool that could be used in school
and would accrue pride from those who knew
how children liked games that were cool.
In the end it was ironic
that his crazy project became iconic
of play around time that produced a ride
into playfulness that became Bart's pride.
(I know this verse makes little sense
but the Jumble words were tough and dense.
I'll criticism take,
but please give me a bit of a break.)
Come on, everybody. I know it's a Sunday, when everybody needs a break. But just check in with us, even if only briefly, so that I don't feel so alone here on the blog.
ReplyDeleteI miss you guys.
Looks like you and I were using the same trick yesterday & today.
ReplyDeleteWe both took as our theme the difficulty of making the J-words work together.
Well, why not? It's the common problem here.
I thought your Bart made sense--well, sorta!--if he was coming up with a piece of "conceptual art."
My only question was your choice of preposition to start the last line of the 2nd stanza.
"...produced" doesn't exactly go with "into," does it?
~ OMK
Thank you for checking in, OMK--it was really depressing to be the only person on Jumble today. Couldn't "playing around with time--like the time when you do things" create or produce a ride (an effort, an attempt) into playfulness (being playful)?
ReplyDeleteOkay, makes no sense to me either.
Chet has a sponsee, Eddie; He's outlining the program]
ReplyDeleteFirst assess your motive , do you truly want to get sober and clean
Merely accruing time, matriculating, is not what I mean
Step One is iconic in that all progress will stem from admission
Of powerlessness and Unmanageability- without that no fruition
Note the fusion of those modules that make up the first step
Only from 100% acceptance will you grow, else you'll remain a shlep
You must sculpt a new Eddie and uproot the weeds of the past
In no amount of time we'll see Mr Right, you'll be amazed at the contrast

Wilbur, that seems a clear description of AA's philosophy. I know it has helped many people.
ReplyDeleteThank you sandy, the J's helped in this example. Question 1., indeed is "Do you really WANT to get sober?"
ReplyDelete2. ARE you WILLING to take the ACTIONS prescribed?
(Hence we call out group the WAWA Group(also its adjacent to a WaWa gas station)
WC
Misty, that was one of your best efforts, ever. C'est merveilleuse. It flows and tells a story. "Produced" in the the sense of created a ride (although not necessarily a ride on a bike)
ReplyDeleteLots of metaphor leaving it to our imagination just what was sculpted. Tres been
WC
Wilbur, how exciting that Chet is now sponsoring Eddie to become sober. The story continues and continues in ever more interesting ways! Many thanks, and thanks for checking in with us today.
ReplyDeleteYou too, Sandy--thanks for checking in.
And OMK, you saved my morning. Thanks again for that too.
You are more than welcome, Misty. You deserve whatever attention I might provide, as I hate to see you all alone here on Sunday mornings.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I find myself caught between feeling sorry for your lonely vigil and trying to stick to my guns in taking at least one day off. (I think you deserve a day off too, as we seem to be the most regular.)
Just to be clear (in case I wasn't): My question was not about your poem's sense, but about the choice of the particular preposition. One may certainly produce something, and then add it "to" or "into" something else. But to "produce into" rather begs an odd spatial context, wouldn't you say?

Wilbur ~ AA philosophy seems to be a never-ending source of inspiration.
But that makes sense, of course, because the more disciplined members seem to benefit from a regular re-examination of their vows, and in company with others.

I do not want to give offence honestly. But it upsets me to be thanked for posting here; makes seem to me as though I'm doing a favor, which I'm not. I'm just posting because I have something to say.
ReplyDeleteOk???
