The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

  1. Misty ~ FLN, Please see my last post.

    Today’s Jumble:

    Citing the example of Oedipus,
the wise men warn us not to be too cocky
    when solving riddles like that
    of the Sphinx.
One may feel a minor triumph
    in the short run, but

    In the Long Run…

    “Funny, but unwise,”
    say sages, “to fi[g]u[r]e out
    our lavish puzzles!”

  2. "Spouse Advice"

    Honey, you are very funny
but we just don't have any money.
The lavish party you want is unwise
and unlikely to win you a prize.
I doubt anyone will buy our grout--
not a contractor nor a building scout.
So lets just have a little fun,
and save our money for the long run.

  3. Ol' Man Keith, thanks for having me look up your"shoku" post. Your puzzle today is a delight: I loved the way you figured out how to work "grout" into your rhyme.

  4. Thanks for your compliment this morning, Misty, and especially thank you for your funny poem. It adds up nicely, flowing smartly from start to finish.
I can easily imagine her advising her spouse against an expensive party meant to promote the sale of their grout!
    Get out!

  5. So, Lois, I'm glad this Easter buffet is not a lavish shindig
Its funny.. Charles seems so down to earth, not a bigwig
Downtown. In the long run it's unwise to make assumptions.
I never thought he had the grout for success.
    So much for presumptions.

  6. I missed y'all Sunday. Easter doings then my nap then the terrific Celtics basketball game with Golf to follow(my fav, Jordan Speith, won the RBC Heritage)

Misty, sharp eyes. You saw where Keith hid the grout. But what's a "Shoku"?

I never even got to solve the Sunday xword

  7. Wilbur, I must not be paying attention; confused about Charles. Anyway, it's nice that Chet and Lois spent Easter together.

I find mself not doing jumbles absolutely every day without fail. Sometimes I'm tired: like to do them before bed, but lately been early to bed, before Owen gets them up. I think it's a wonder he keeps up with them, with the problems he's been having!

  8. Thank you, Wilbur, for your kind words and your delightful verse. I checked and there they were, all the Jumble words and solution, nicely worked in. Keith will have to tell you the meaning of "shoku."
