The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
It certainly was! Homophonic pun at its best.
ReplyDeleteFLN, Misty ~ Yes, That’s the right “Braque,” the pooch & not the famous fauvist.
ReplyDeleteI chose the breed ‘cuz it was a near homophone for “broke.”

Today’s little verse may be sung in the harmonious…
“Rain Mode”
Because baboons aren’t
aware of defeat, they live
minus any loss.

Another tough W.

Sandy, this quiet wedding idea may be wishful thinking. AAers naturally think that EVERYONE is invited to any party.
I'm thinking if there's alcohol served to guests it may not be wise to have the AAers there

I had a Maine Coon,
ReplyDeleteBut was minus my baboon,
And could not delve into the reason.
I then was aware,
That in spite of my care,
The ape went on the road in high season.
The defeat of my plan
For a zoo on my land,
Was certainly not very pleasin’.

"Pet Owners"
ReplyDeleteMark was over the moon
when the paper published the cartoon
about a pet baboon.
The deal was fair and square
and he was quite aware
that the income he'd have to share
with his wife, who was the finest
artist with no minus.
The couple did happily compete
and suffered no defeat.
They bought a new abode
on their town's main road.
And for an extra boon
they acquired a pet baboon.
Misty, it appears you are a natural at wordle. The first guess is random and then the logical reasoning sets in.

Enjoyed your poem, Misty; mulling it over and over, aiming to decide if the shared income came from her prize as an artist, or a contest he won,
ReplyDeleteeither inspired by a baboon, or the first baboon pet was merely incidental.
That income was surely a great deal, to afford both a house AND a baboon!

CanadianEh! ~ Thanks for your very neat verse. Sorry your baboon took off like that.
ReplyDeleteThey can be awful ingrates.
But…Welcome to the club! It’s good to see another poet picking up The Quill.
