The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
Background to today’s haiku:
ReplyDeletePeople may try various ways to scare off mice and rats, including scarecrow-type figures—like fake felines.
But rats only ignore artificial animals.
(Leading to the following [semi-Spooner] title…)
“(A) Phony Pup (May B)ore it…”
While rodents may seem
apathetic, they’re well poised
to flee a gruff voice.

I made a good choice for my first word today.
ReplyDeleteBack later hopefully.

"Sad boy, glad boy"
ReplyDeleteThe boy was made of rough stuff,
he was gruff, and his folks had enough.
They needed to teach him some poise,
so they bought him some quiet toys
that made very little noise.
But his apathy didn't relent
so they bought him a pet rodent.
Still, that made him no less lonely,
so they finally got him a pony.
Now at last, he's a happy boy,
riding his new friend, full of joy.
A pony buys a lot of happiness, Misty, or so it seems. Your poem’s “Boy” seems to agree.
ReplyDeleteI understand why his new pony succeeded where his trial hamster (or Guinea pig or white rat) failed.
It’s kinda hard to ride the little critters.
I agree, CanadianEh!: that first word makes a big difference.

I think I can guess all but your first letter.

You did it again, Ol' Man Keith--worked all the Jumble words into your compact haiku.
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure to check it out every morning--keep it up! And have a fun day!
You too, CanadianEh!. After I saw your and Keith's brilliant Wordle solve, I gave it a try, but after three efforts still only had the same two letters working and gave it up. I'll have to try harder tomorrow.
Misty I'll repost my poem fln after this
ReplyDeleteFln, OMK that's BC 's motto.

Background to today’s verse: Their well-known & popular Prima Donna completes her solo tour on the 7th.
The corps can’t rehearse with her till the 8th.
(The haiku title below rhymes with today’s solution:)
“(Dame) Jane (doit rΓ©pΓ©ter avec le corps)

The ballet won’t be
ready—till the ninth. We’re hitched
to our public star.
