JUMBLE||
|| _twice, chord, lately, always, "dairy" tale.
Image(s) from the Internet.

The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

  1. A Fairy Tale?

    Twice daily (always
lately), we strike the chords of
    peace & harmony.

  3. "Marry Tale"

    Mary's and Larry's fairy tale
began when they first exchanged cards in the mail.
Their comments were nice and had spice,
and soon Larry proposed to her, twice.

This gave their friendship a whole new chord
and soon their love and passion soared.
So, lately a stately wedding was planned
and the couple walked down the aisle, hand in hand.
They promised to stay together always
and to treasure and cherish every one of their days.

  5. A nice story, Misty, that of Mary & Larry.
Not an unexpected trajectory given your propensity for love & romance. But actually both realistic & practical when read closely.
I notice that they promise to “treasure and cherish” each day together, not necessarily to enjoy them.
That’s just good sense. It should help them to fully appreciate their commitment.

Good job with Wordle. I lucked out in reach’ing with my first try.

  6. I would say both of our verses this morning were in the same spirit, Ol' Man Keith. And I'm always amazed when I can find all four Jumble words and solution in your brief and tight and lyrical haiku. And your Wordle this morning also simply amazed me. Woohoo! Mine was a bit of a slog, as you can see, but I still got an undeserved "splendid" response from the its site.

  7. It always seems lately,
    When the chord is stately,
That the dairy has been calm,
And cows’ tails flick like balm.

Retro music gives twice the yield of milk.

  8. Misty- your offering was very appropriate for me on our anniversary. Thanks.

OMK- if only we could strike those chords more often.

Great work to both of you on Wordle. I always forget that letters can be used TWICE!

Solution was a bit outre ; Not for OMK but for mortals like Misty et moi.

Misty, your CC comments are always a treasure.

Are we really down to the wire on getting a blog admin guy? It seems difficult for an East Coast, EDT guy, I think it's available at 9pm PDT

I have someone in mind. Are the directions repostable

  10. CEh! ~ Well expressed! The ratio of calming music to milk seems highly favorable.

I think anyone who manages Wordle on four tries is doing quite well. (What music were YOU hearing?)

WC ~ I dunno, my friend. Speaking as one PDT guy, I already spend too much time enjoying the Jumble. Sadly but truly.
Other work should take priority, no more excuses.

As for Wordle, if my reach did not succeed, I had to retry, then once again!

  11. Here you go, Wilbur ~ Re-posted from Owen on June 17...

"Keith or whoever (CEh!? Some lurker?), first step is to get the new day's Jumble. I get it from the Chicago Trib, where it comes at 6pm (Mountain time; your time will be an hour off), but I chop that up to get the blog page. To save you that effort, at or after 11pm go to https://www.arkansasonline.com/puzzles/jumblenh/ . Copy the Jumble image from there. Just the Jumble image, not the whole page.

"I assume you've found the dashboard, and the page that lists all posts. The bottom-right corner will have a large orange disk with a + sign in the middle. That's what you need to start a new day. Press that and the edit page will come up. you can leave the title blank. In the edit section will be the welcome message that I wrote. At the start of that message is || . Put your cursor between those lines, and press [ctrl] [H]. Press the save icon at the top-right, and you're done!

"Once you get that down, two additional steps are to adjust the size of the image to a width of 616-620 pixels. The column is 620 pixels wide but I like to give it some extra slack.

"The other thing is to set the publishing time (assuming you're posting before midnight, otherwise just leave it alone). Before you save, press the cog-wheel icon on the right edge. That will drop down a menu covering the right side of the page. About a page down on that menu will be the publishing time. Click that and change the time to 12 am, and for the puzzle's date."

  12. Loved your "dairy" poem, CanadianEh!. And congratulations on your anniversary!
You too must have gotten a "splendid" on your Wordle.

  13. Thank you for the kind words, Wilbur--you are such a generous spirit!
And congratulations on your Wordle too!

  14. I'm doubling up, you'll have to try to guess the Tues J's

As Lois walked towards cousin Holly she thought 'Once bit twice shy"
Chet murmured, don't be deterred it's always hard the first try
Holly was dressed in typical fashion wearing a radish colored jersey
That struck a particular chord as Lois prayed. 'God have mercy'
Her elders in AA had advised: "Deary, make your tale short and sweet"
Lately, Lois had a one track mind, "Any success will be bittersweet"

  15. It looks like I'm two hours ahead of the J. And of the Arkamsas link.

My son is whom I have in mind, a certified nightowl plus internet guru.

However I had no problem copying over today's image.

Owen, what date do you want to retire? Or Keith you can be the go-between

I'm reading a biography of Dickens and started with a word from one of his novels

And the solution can be applied to Charles's writing as a whole especially Mr Pickwick

  17. BTW, speaking of guessing. Who can guess Tuesday's J's and riddle-solution from my latest C&L effort?

Sandy, if you're out there give it a crack

  18. Re: Crossword Corner, this blog was started because there were objections to Jumble being too off-topic there (and Wordle too when it came around) There was even an objection to too many cross-postings with invites to come over here. Those were allowed, as long as they weren't tooo numerous, but they were getting that way.

The instructions I posted a few days ago will result in the newspaper copy like the one above, instead of the cleaner (IMHO) image I create. Comments please.

  19. Whoops! I did the Tues Jumble before checking back here, Wilbur, so I knew the riddle solution before reading your latest C&L installment.
Sorta like my Wordle problem. I always seem to spot the answer, or at least a hint, before the Times makes it available to me.
Good job on your Wordle BTW. I agree that Pickwick exemplifies that adjective.

I gotta kick out of Lois today, praying for mercy on spotting Holly’s radish-red sweater.
Of all the colors that are fine in nature but impossible for people, radish takes the prize.
It is just too *#@! cold a hue for humans.
Let’s hope Miz Lois can contain herself… for the greater good.
