The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
Wilbur, I left some comments on your test page.
ReplyDeleteSandy, Today's solution isn't a pun or joke -- It's a shame, but it's about as bland as they come.
ReplyDeleteFLN, Wilbur ~ Our thanks to your skillful son! He deserves our gratitude.
You deserve a blast of fatherly pride! When do we get to meet him?
Owen ~ Thank you for checking in and mentoring the hand-off. Your “baby” looks to be in good hands.
And WC, Your latest installment of C&L did an excellent job of incorporating a load of J-words. Chet’s reaction & pride in Lois’ handling of Holly is duly noted, as is your nice build-up of his questioning of Charles. We’re eager to read the answer.

“Beside Oneself”
A shame! To remake
this morning’s blend might dull one’s
feral feisty fight.

ReplyDeleteChet was beside himself chuckling over the role reversal
He'd watched as his feisty fiance was no longer an enemy but a pal.
Now he must corner Charles who was grunting and groaning
At the barbecue pit. How ironic he mused, 'I thought Lois had to do the atoning'.
Charles was slashing at a rib roast carving spiral pieces onto a platter
"Hello there Chet, why the long face? Is there something the matter?"
"Why do I feel shame", thought Chet, "I've fully recovered,
I no longer need to blend into the crowd for fear of being discovered"
"Everything's fine here, Charles, you mentioned just last weekend
That there might be a problem with my marrying Lois. What could that portend?"
Note. The previous had Fri and Sat J's and riddle-solutions

ReplyDeleteSusan's feisty behavior produced much blame
and gave her name considerable shame.
As a result she was beside herself
and tried to put the past on a shelf.
She realized she needed a break
in order her performance to remake.
She learned how to blend and mend,
and how to become a better friend.
And so Susan has started a new life
that leaves behind all her grief and her strife.
Feisty is a loaded word. Like spunky.
ReplyDeleteYou can’t say it to praise a person’s fighting spirit without also insulting their puny stature.
So, be careful…
Misty ~ Your Susan may resent her relatively small size, being female vis a vis the men in her world, and so was given to default lashing-out. It’s understandable whenever the guys behaved in a patronizing manner, but not when they aimed merely to be courteous.
Perhaps she learned the power of the Pause, to give herself time to weigh motives before reacting. It can remake one’s performance and lead to her “new life.”
Hey, Sandy! Nice to see you back. And on an auspicious day, the smooth handing-off of the site’s controls!

We’re here! Thank you to Wilbur’s son.

I just finally worked my way through the comments, and it sounds as though a wonderful solution has been found for our Jumble blog! Woohoo! Thank you, Wilbur's son, for being willing to take over Owen's great job that he's done for so many years. I was so fearful that we would lose our blog, and am so relieved that we'll be able to continue. I'll look forward to learning your name, and learning if you'll also be contributing verses and such to our site. And I wish we could throw you a party of some sort to welcome you to our group! Thank you, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWilbur, loved your Chet's verse today, and look forward to how his and Lois' marriage will proceed.
ReplyDeleteOMK, thank you for your very kind comments---much appreciated. And are you really up for a feral feisty fight? Surely not--you always suggest kindness and cooperation to me.
I also hope I can post my Wordle:

Or remake yourself
To blend in with the crowd.
Feisty or shy
Be yourself.
My challenge to you today is to find the missing letters/preferred pronoun!
Where is everyone seeing a post from Sand?
Whoops! My bad, CanadianEh!
ReplyDeleteI mistook Owen's message to Sandy in the very first message (top of the page) today; I read it as a posting from her, which it was not.
But maybe she will read of all our excitement and come back for an occasional post of her own.
Your own posting was a treat today. Poetic words of wisdom.
And I welcome you as a fellow anti-ruer. (I.e., "no regrets.")
Good work on Wordle.
Mine had a one-hint advantage; I knew it was a creature of some sort, so I went for a favorite big cat--and Lo!

My son says it must have been Owen, last night. "Archindar" is prepared to do it, thank you Owen for one more days reprieve
ReplyDeleteI thought it looked too good for a first real try.
Archie is going to set up a jcl* file to run aurmtomaticalky at 3am EDT which will produce the Jumble at 1AM.
So Owen, we'll be up and running soon. My son's email is archindar5665@gmail.com
