The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Your next-to-last, WC, was probably GLOVE or GLOBE.

”Get Right On It”
If you’ll permit me:
it gets 30 & foggy
before icing up.

ReplyDeleteHolly was a bit of a hermit
until, on a day that was foggy,
they told her she needed a permit
if she wanted to keep her doggy.
She was thirty and never dirty,
and even a bit nerdy.
So she tried to get her license
and the move turned out to be icing.
She found she was eligible for a room
which sent her spirits over the moon.
She looked for a job and got right on it
and her life is now light and bright.
Woohoo! Woohoo! I got the Wordle on my first try this morning--thanks to Ol' Man Keith's wonderful clue. Many many thanks, and Woohoo!

Glad my clue could help, Misty. I copied it from the NY Times crossword, where the word also appeared this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour Holly (not to be confused with Wilbur’s Holly) seems a welfare success story, if indeed she kept her dog.
As to today’s format, do I detect you transitioning toward free verse, or a new personal style?
In any case, the days ahead appear fog-free!

,
I liked your haiku this morning too, OMK. And, yes, I guess when the Jumble words are tough to rhyme I may start trying to adapt to a less conventional poetic style. Thanks for the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteHope Wilbur and CanadianEh! check in with us a bit more today, and, of course, also Owen.
We might win a visit from CEh!
ReplyDeleteBut I don't believe Wilbur will return again today.
I was just checking on their pattern last Monday.
Let's see what creatures-of-habit we are...

It amazes me how you Wordle folks find so much to talk about on a puzzle with a single word as solution.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the nature of this blog, I wonder if, AFTER our closing time (noon in California) people would make poems using the words in their word ladders leading up to and including the final solution.
Yes I am back after a busy weekend. OMK, LOL re “creatures of habit”.
ReplyDeleteWordle reminded me of Chet and Lois.
Owen, your suggestion would work for WC and me, but Misty and OMK only have one word! I will try tomorrow.

I was going to say the same as CEh!, Owen, as we have different ways of approaching Wordle.
ReplyDeleteMy (and Misty's) way comes from the ubiquitous presence of Wordle hints & answers on the internet. Rather than trying to avoid them, I figured to take the first hint I spotted and try for one or two stabs.
But, yes, the opposite has its own pleasure, in working through the alphabet from scratch--and it can produce the variety of words that has made this page so attractive to us.
