  1. Bobby was in the market for a Sweety.
To find one for him wouldn't be easy!
He wanted to latch onto someone exciting
Who'd lead him to adventures inviting!

Clara was a girl who wasn't tied down.
She made her own way! It caused men to frown.
She claimed that she'd crossed the equator,
Riding the tail of a wild alligator!

Her path crossed his. The oddest couple:
He read books, lived in his bubble
She wanted no one to crimp her style
But love brought them together for a while!

But just for a while. Each reverted to type.
He gladly returned to books, she to life.

  2. FLN--Keith, That chart is just the tip of the bubble! Google offers stats running out the ears. Did you know we have more readers in Netherlands than in Canada?
Here are the stats pages. I doubt anyone can read it who dosen't have edit status, so sorry to most of you. :-(

BTW, I've preset the blog to open up to next Sunday. Archie can probably automate it easily if he's still interested.

  3. Not that today’s haiku is to be misconstrued as a reference to a brothel, but sometimes the doorman at such an establishment is known as a…

    Tail-Gate-er

    Crimp the latch; leave your
    door ajar. I’ll gladly join
    you—for the oddest things.

  4. Thanks, Owen. I am still unclear why the Pageview count will drop on a given day.

Your Bobby/Clara poem was a pleasant bedtime tale. Nice to be reminded that love can change type, if (refreshingly) only for a while.

  5. Crocodile Rock

Don’t let anyone crimp your style,
    Don’t worry about being tailed,
Lift the latch to the future,
And gladly go into the unknown.
    Life can be gruelling,
But the oddest things can happen.

    Rock ‘round the Clock!

  6. Hey, CEh! ~ A fine philosophy for living. Nothing is guaranteed, but it’s one helluva ride.
You put it succinctly and well.
    Rock on!

  7. "Great Date"

    Leo did his foot catch
in the door he tried to un-latch.
It caused his toes to crimp
and made him walk with a limp.
Now, sadly, he's no longer the hottest,
though he's gladly not the oddest.
    And although he's now a tail-gater,
Girls still find him a great dater,
and to all of his wishes still cater.

  8. Yes, OMK, Owen’s Clara seems to be following my advice about Rocking On. Bobby is not as ready for change as he thought.

I noted your interesting use of Crimp referring to the latch. (Implying adding a ridging and thus making the latch inoperable?)
The word does have several meanings besides the old one that has me envisioning curling irons heated on the fireplace.

Wow! Misty thought of crimped toes - very descriptive, and different than the usual cramped. But Leo has not had his style cramped. Watch out ladies!

I did manage to include a form of the Wordle word today.

  10. Loved your inspiring and uplifting "Crocodile Rock," CanadianEh!! And thank you for your kind response to my 'crimped.'

Hope you had a great time, after entering that AJAR DOOR, Ol' Man Keith.

Well, sorry that Clara and Bobby didn't stay together Owen, but at least they got to have a romance in a lovely poem. Many thanks for that morning gift.

  11. Ow! Poor Leo!
But not so poor, after all, eh, Misty?
Not poor, so long as he keeps up his record with the ladies.
He may not be so hot on the dance floor these days, but he must have other things going for him.
Such as being a sociable driver/host at tail-gate parties, eh?

Good for you, solving Wordle w/o needing my hint!

424 is the highest BA for a season. I think it was Rogers Hornsby in 1924.

I just looked him up. 1920-29 was probably the greatest span of pure hitting in history.
