ReplyDelete”Off-Brand Cheese Works”
A Swiss fondue pot
makes a matchless late-night snack.
Scoop’d furrows of cheese!

Snack Attack
ReplyDeleteThe farmer made the straightest furrow
To win the plowing match.
He shrugged off the congratulations
With an offhand manner,
“I am fonder of my own patch”
He remarked.
OMK- I have fond memories of fondue in Switzerland. Yum.
ReplyDeleteMy offering is a little disjointed today. It was hard to link all those words.
FLN- WC- thanks for the C&L update. Charles and Nora are coming around!
"Fondue Woo"
ReplyDeleteJack met Susie for a snack
and next day invited her back.
His best clue on how to woo
was to order some great fondue.
At first her brow did furrow,
but she soon began to glow,
and his silly offhand remark
did romance in her spark.
So their meeting love did hatch,
making them a perfect match.
Misty- great Jack and Susie poem. I love the wooing with fondue!
ReplyDeleteTook a few tries, but I did get the Wordle in the end:

Thank you for the kind words about my fondue woo, CanadianEh!.
I didn't know farmers had plowing matches, but I'm so glad your farmer won his! So what did he get for a prize?
Took me a while to find this morning's Jumble Solution in your poetic title this morning, Ol' Man Keith, but the four words were all there. Your haiku made me realize I've never had fondue, and don't know what's in it. Does it include cheese? Anyway, delightful Jumble offering--many thanks.

CEh! ~ It didn't seem "disjointed" to me. Not at all. I especially enjoyed your fonder/fondue fun.
ReplyDeleteMisty ~ Jack sure knew Susie's taste. Not everybody is a sucker for fondue. (And, yes, it includes cheese. It is mainly cheese.). Personally, I have a sad memory of it--with the worst hangover in my life.
After imbibing immoderately one late night, I finished things off with too much (yum...) fondue.
But too much fondue has a way of UNDERstaying its welcome. It all came back to haunt me in the morning. Yech.
I see you managed again to get the Wordle w/o my help--before I posted a hint.
So you must take credit for being on your own and needn't feel so reliant on my aid.

Misty- you beat me at Wordle today. WooHoo!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Plowing Matches are a Canadian thing!? The Ontario one (which calls itself International) is coming up in September. There is a different location every year. Prizes are usually cash, but the amounts are not huge (usually several hundred dollars); it is the bragging rights that are coveted!

Thanks for the encouraging words OMK.
Thank you for the Wordle hint, Ol' Man Keith. I probably would have done better if I had had it, and I'll look forward to getting it tomorrow. Maybe CanadianEh! might appreciate it too?
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks too for the Fondue story. I'll be sure to avoid the dish if it's ever served at a party I attend
And CanadianEh!, thanks for explaining that plowing matches are just what the phrase says. Hope the best plow-ers win!

Misty, C-eh prefers no hints as do I. My schtick is no E on #1 else it's any valid 5 letter word.
Depending on when OMK reads this post he'll be chuckling.
Not that Wilbur would ever drop any hints.
