FLN, Misty ~ You left early yesterday…
ReplyDeleteso I am not sure if you saw this reply to your poem:
While you may find birdsong baffling,
it could add to your garden's appeal.
She may be whistling for a Tolkien halfling,
for some good ol' Hobbitean zeal!
Frodo would add a reason for shooting
your film, the 9th of the "Lord of the Rings."
His fanbase would surely come rooting.
Throw in Ents and Orcs & a soundtrack that sings
of glory--
and you'll find your film's awards
setting storied
high marks in the record of records!

Today’s Jumble haiku:
ReplyDeleteHmmm. A transcription of an old message?
Perhaps this was posted by a squad leader to his unit, encouraging them to retain body heat, when chills had already taken their comrades.
“Tempus fugit”
Huddle ‘round the grill,
boys, lest this outfit decay
too fast—O my dears!
~ OMK
My goodness, Ol' Man Keith, I'm so sorry I missed your amazing and delightful response to my verse last night. What a pleasure--and thank you for posting it so I could see it and appreciate it this morning.
ReplyDeleteAnd to add to this morning's first treat, you've also given us your delightful haiku. Please give our warm thanks to the squad leader.
"Helpful Hand"
ReplyDeleteThe storm crashed on a terrible day,
causing their home to totally decay.
In a tent they now all had to huddle,
their lives in a dreadful muddle.
But a helpful crew member brought them a grill
which kept them warm and let them cook in the chill.
And he also gave them a sewing kit
which allowed the to restore each damaged outfit.
The storm at last ended and now the family did cheer
the generous crew member who had been such a dear.
Another hintless Wordle…

Glad you saw & had a chance to react to my take on your garden piece, Misty.
ReplyDeleteYour “Helpful Hand” reminds us of the increased reports of storms across the land and around the world. The need for “first responders”—like the crew in your piece—is greater than ever.
You give an encouraging account of one family’s warm appreciation of such aid.

Yes Dear!
ReplyDeleteIn a trice
Three not-so-blind mice
Chewed through the grill,
Leaving the BarbBQ in decay.
There was no huddle,
She had the last say.
Get that outfit replaced- no fuddle-duddle
Well, without any hints it took me four tries to get today's Wordle, but I got it in the end:

Love your funny verses, CanadianEh!--the one this morning was really a riot--many thanks for that!
Sorry I did not get back here Saturday or yesterday.
ReplyDeleteGlad your wife is doing well in her recovery OMK. Yes, proper rehab and doing the exercises are so important to a good result.
WC- sorry to hear of the loss of your Golden. Pets are a wonderful source of company and unadulterated adoration. They give so much and are dearly missed.
Misty- such generous aid work by your rescuing crew.
Nice Wordle work OMK and Misty.
ReplyDeleteI fought the ancient word for two long!
Well, you see now, Misty, without a hint you did just as well as I did with your Wordle.
ReplyDeleteWhen I use hints, I pass them along to you. For the last few days, I didn’t use any, so had none to offer.
But they aren’t really necessary, as you can tell by your good result!
Thanks for your kind comment, CEh! and give yourself a pat on the back too. Considering that today’s word has so many possibles for positions 2 and 4, you really did just as well as we did.
It was only luck—sheer happenstance—that we chose #4 sooner than you.

Wilbur, CanadianEh! just reminded us of your sad loss of Goldie. Yes, dogs can be the sweetest of companions, I think we all know, and so their loss is sad and painful. After losing both of my last dachshunds I can't take a chance on losing another pup, but I'm thankful for the time I had with them. And I'm also very thankful that my 65plus year old tortoise Gophie (species Gopherus Agassisi, I think) is still out of her dark corner every morning and waiting for me to bring her her lettuce in the sunlight. Always cheers up my morning.
