The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is NOT required.

Since August 2022, Wordle brags and links to original jigsaw puzzles are also welcomed!

Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual Jumble or Wordle answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

    Disney releases Halloween fireworks,
but I barely hear each rackety whoosh-‘n-Bam!
A TV drama drones, some actor moans,
yet I couldn’t care less to give a damn.

I treat myself to a glass of Beaujolais
& hum a theme from Gershwin’s bluesy opus.
    I anticipate this weekend’s holiday,
as the worrisome world slips slowly out of focus.

My words are not required every day
(neither my counsel nor my haiku posts),
but much as I’d abstain—would hope & pray
for rest—these fail at last, like foolish boasts.

I vow each week to shun both Corner & Jumble—
but must endure… my resolution’s crumble.

  2. "Healing Help"

    Don lived in a duplex
    near a lagoon,
    his income was small,
    not over the moon.

    One night his dreams
    made him afraid--
    he thought he heard screams
    and needed some aid.

    A friend, with respect,
    came from across the field
and told him there was no affect,
    which his worries healed.

Don then asked his pal to stay
    and his friend said yes.
    They're now room-mates
    and both feel blessed.

He was afraid to enter a new field,
Fearing it would affect his income stream
    And a lesser lifestyle yield.
    The decision was complex,
And not wishing to be called l’imbรฉcile
He chose to stay in the box.

    *a shout-out to Misty today

You have to work today to find the Wordle and Jumble words in my offering. Several of the words are altered, plus a knowledge of French and dance steps would help.

  4. Misty- sounds like Don has an anxiety disorder. Sharing with his friend not only relieves his anxiety, but helps with the rent too.
    Double blessing!

OMK- enjoy your sabbatical, and read us on Monday. LOL!

  5. Ol' Man Keith, one of your most delightful and complex poems last night--a rare and real gift to us on this Sunday. I wanted to take it lightly, but I too have been feeling more and more afraid (forgive the J word), watching the news every night and reading the paper, about where this country is headed at what should be such a joyful time for all of us. So my heart is with your verse.

Loved the shout-out to me in your lovely title, CanadianEh!. I left Austria when I was 11 years old, so never learned a Viennese dance, I'm afraid--at least this way I won't be called an imbecile.
