  1. Today’s Jumble haiku:
    (North Pole Integrity)

May the Force be Weakened, if…

    Elves don’t use sleighs from
Santa’s fleet to sweat or fleece
    bad kids to be good!

  2. Wordle 4 Nov. ‘22
    Par = 4
    Wordle 503 3/6

    Strange, how I just
    stumbled into this finish…

  3. I give you a nostalgic Canadian scene today.

    Winter Wonderland

    The Currier and Ives photo
    Evokes a fleet of memories
    (And unforced tears)
    Of loved ones and family
    Gone now for many years.

    Horse and sleigh,
    Fleecy long underwear,
    Woollen sweater,
    Rosy cheeks and frozen hair
In the weak sun of December.

  4. OMK- we went in different directions with the words today, but still a winter/Christmas theme.
Imagine if those naughty elves fleeced kids!!! Lumps of coal for them.

  5. "Evading"

Sam had to use a tricky sleigh
    to avoid being fleeced
by his brother who wanted him to pay
    a high extravagant lease.

Sam tried to weaken his brother's force
    by offering him a treat--
a free week of rides on a borrowed horse
that was gentle and rapid and fleet.

And to win the game of being a debtor
he gave his brother his sweater.

  6. Ol' Man Keith, looks like you're getting started on your funny Christmas spirit already. Looking forward to more holiday humor from you in the weeks ahead.

Loved your Winter Wonderland poem, CanadianEh!, and just hope I can stop thinking about that Fleecy long underwear. Makes me laugh.

Any chance one of you can (or already has) given us a Wordle hint today? I'd love to use one to try it.

  7. CEh! ~ Your verse is a fine evocation of memory, simply stirring familial images, common to North Americans.
The older I get, the more important they are.
    Thank you.

  8. Misty ~ We have already left you two solid hints. You are welcome to join in.
Be sure to leave a hint behind when you are done.

Good to see you returning to the AB side! And to trying your hand at a closing couplet. Yay!
Your Sam is going out of his way to be a good brother.
I don’t see how his brother can resist such favors & keep demanding an exorbitant rental fee
    —unless he’s a veritable Scrooge!

  9. Anybody notice why I flipped my usual way in composing my title…?
(Choosing not to go with the solution words, but…)

  10. Misty- we have all given you clues
(WC last night) and the word is in my poem.
Glad to bring a smile re the long johns!

OMK- thanks for your kind words re my verse. Many memories, but not much use any more for that fleecy underwear. Blame it on climate change?
I presumed that like me, you use in the title whatever words are hard to put into your haiku/poem/verse. But you have changed your pattern today.

  11. I could have used the J-words either way today, CEh!
Try sounding the first five words† of the title out loud.
    ~ OMK
    _____________
If that doesn't work, then I guess I am the only one here who's up on the Jedi lingo
(tho' I was never a big fan...).

  12. Misty ~ Good luck!
You should get it in One, as it could not be made easier for you than in the verse by CEh!.
She has told you it is right there. It is not a long poem, so all you need do is see how many 5-letter words it contains, and figure which is most likely...
    Piece o' cake!

    PS.
And please remember to leave a hint when you're done.
    Fair's fair.

  13. C-eh, your poem is publish worthy. Wish Owen were here to lay kudos. As usual after the comments I'll have to rake a second look at the haiku

Of course with this eye they're all second looks

Misty, Sam has a mean brother. I hope yhe sweater had a picture of Scrooge

  14. I think you're right, Wilbur,
and I'll bet your #4 was prone to nearly getting there.

  15. I was all over the place, OMK, my #4 was POOCH which previously had the first O not #2.ie. not in 2nd position

My penultimate letter in #5 was N but not PRONE.

I have bad habit of being hasty on Wordle

  16. Misty- Sam and his brother seem to have a terrible case of sibling rivalry! He even gave up his sweater. I’m guessing Sam was the younger brother.

WC- thank you for your exceptionally kind evaluation of my poem. I hope your eye (and the rest of you) recover soon.

OMK- yes I do see the Star Wars phrasing in your title.

  17. I've combined Friday and Saturday so your welcome to guess the latter J's and riddle-solution

"We've so much to plan together, Chet from the emcee
At the reception to the …
[Chet interrupts] "Easy does it my precious, sweet pea
The race goes not to the fleet though we must stay strong
The radius of activities we'll enact as they come along

Let me steer your attention to another big day on the horizon
Soon there will be sleigh bells ringing and tons of Christmas fun
When we awaken that morning I hope to see something better
Than your present last year, that red and green fleece sweater:

"I get the message my wise and wonderful guy
'Don't try to force it and surely good things will come bye and bye'"

    WC

  18. Like C-eh, OMK, I looked back and saw the J's, and even the sweater. All the J's and riddle-solution wrapped within the title and the haiku

  19. After yesterday's nightmare this

    Wordle 504 4/6

    ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛
    ⬛🟩🟨⬛🟨
    ⬛🟩🟩🟩⬛
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Went smoothly. My guess o. #3 was having fun but was confident on 4

  20. Sorry I saw all your kind comments only now, just before bedtime. Busy day today with a few problems along the way and so never had a chance to check in until now. Hope you all had a good day and will all get a good night's rest. See you tomorrow!

  21. Thanks, Wilbur, for taking the time to spot all the words in my piece. I appreciate your full response to my humble post.
Yes, I knew what your #5 was. But you got me on #4. Man, you were all over the place!

The give-and-take between Chet & Lois re. Xmas presents is a little too transactional for lovers. My guess is they have more history in this department than has been revealed to your readers.
Meanwhile, I don’t believe any guy endears himself to his lady by calling her “sweet pea.”

CEh! ~ Yes, Star Wars was the echo I was after. Thanks for decoding it!
I changed WEAKEN to past tense to catch the rhythm—the stronger stress on the syllables—belonging to the original two words.
    ~ OMK
