  1. Today’s Jumble haiku:
(In the spirit of Dr. Johnson, the following exercise may “not be done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”
And, in order that it be appreciated, may we hope it be…)

    Not Done in Vain?

    This video’s clinched
    by a cat, pencil-batting
    peanuts off a chair!

(Keeping such pop-videos in mind, here’s a lil’ bonus number…)

    I don’t suppose
    you hold your nose
    at those videos—
    felines balanced on chairs
    to clinch those high peanuts
    while their people say prayers,
    driving me nuts,
    and you lose your cares
(& on end stand your hairs)!

  2. Wordle 12 Dec. ‘22
    Par = 4
    Wordle 541 2/6

    Tried a new, fulsome starter.
    Good choice.
It afforded a fine supply of letters.

  3. OMK- your starter was very sufficient for the task!?
I used a totally different starter today also, with less success.
I thought that I was fittingly answering at guess four, but was required to use my brain one more time.
I seeFLN that WC got it in four.

  4. The human tires of having the bird feeder emptied by a pesky critter. Revenge is plotted - humane or not.

    Vengeful Pain - Yah!

    You’ve seen those videos-
The squirrel paw in the bottle,
    Clinching the peanut,
    Refusing to let go,
    Crying “ouch” ere he throttled.

    “Gotcha, you little thief!”

  5. LOL OMK - you went with a cat and I had a squirrel chasing those peanuts.
Those cat videos can drive you crazy!

  6. "Puzzle Prize"

    Pat lived in Pennsylvania
    and had a pencil mania.

He enjoyed sitting in his chair
and instead of watching a video
worked on puzzles that were fair,
    eating peanuts and sipping soda
and clinched puzzles with time to spare.

And so it came as no surprise
that he won a puzzle prize.

  7. And Misty went with a people video, starring one Pat by name, a puzzle puzzler.
He seems to be successful, sufficiently on his game to snag a prize, though we may question how high he scores in the cuteness-stakes.

    Enjoyed your title, CanadianEh!
I had to split my answer between my title and the haiku proper. Still, we got ‘er done…
    Your poem stirs sweet memories.

  8. When I say “memories,” I should clarify that I’m referring to recent images. We have a pair of squirrels visiting our back door almost nightly, to get the handout of peanuts my mother-in-law doles out.
They come and stand on their hind legs to peer in. She goes outside while they dart to their special spot on the top of our fence to receive their handout.
    They are getting fat.

  9. Ol' Man Keith, am still having trouble trying to imagine a cat "pencil-batting." But your rhyme of "nose" and "video" cracked me up.

I've gotten to enjoy your painful verses, CanadianEh!, and your squirrel's "ouch" today made me laugh. Also your Wordle today gives me courage to give one a try.

  10. Woohoo! Got the Wordle on three--or was that four?--tries. Either way, Woohoo!

  11. Thanks all.
OMK- cute story about the squirrels. We have a neighbour who feeds peanuts to the chipmunks. They will take them out of her hand. I think squirrels are a little more aloof.

Misty- Pat and his puzzles made for an uplifting poem.
You did well today on Wordle. I see you were amply rewarded.

  12. CanadianEh! You put your finger on it!
And, Misty, your 3rd try was my starter word, minus one.

    Wordle 542 4/6

I'm stubbornly holding on to my pick a J that has no E strategy. I don't get those OMK style birdies but usually a sure par as my 4th guess is the only one left(eg I left no stone unturned)

I don't think Misty looks for clues but doesn't seem to need them.

She drew a blank on #1 fln, but bounced right back for par

  14. Ps, speaking of Misty...

You have a birthday soon, this week?

  15. Do you remember Lois's cousin??

When Lois arrived back at aunt Nora's she found Hollie relaxing on a chair
"Permit me to pose a question, cuz, 'How'd you like to make a tidy profit?'
Is making peanuts on your current job entirely fair?
I'm averaging nearly forty bucks an hour. Not above board but off it"

"Now that your not drinking think of what a bounty that could be
No more pushing pencils in vain, no mere measly salary
Check this video out of a before and after BnB condo
We can clean this baby up in under two hours, make lots of dough"

Lois pondered the offer, "Could all this be real?"
Then Holly showed her a fistful of Benjis. That clinched the deal.
