The more I value what I find
ReplyDeleteBuried In this heart of mine
The more I moan
The chances flown
Because I "didn't have the time."
ReplyDeleteToday’s Jumble haiku:
(He’s hosting a North Pole party for those who help their fellow man.
All aboard for Santa’s ‘Good’ List!)
“The Embarkables!”
Brave little brokers
ladle out stew for Wall Street’s
homeless. Y’all embark!

ReplyDeleteThe duped man was not brave.
He hoped if he laid low,
The rival who brokered the deal
Would finally let him embark on his life,
Able to remake his destiny.
Owen- I had to search for the W in your first offering. Well hidden! And a very true statement about the things we left undone.
ReplyDeleteI loved your pirate story (and the hidden J solution). Plus your other slangy use of the B word was great. And let’s not forget your wonderful ability to rhyme.
OMK- you bring us the spirit of the season with those brokers (who are usually considered to be heartless) actually helping their fellow-man. Sounds like a Scrooge conversion. Yes, let’s celebrate their philanthropy.
Yipes! Rereading it, I see I miss spelt the Wordle solution in my first poem! Well CEh! found it anyway, so it can't be too serious a problem. Still, if anyone can think of a word to take the place of "more" but ending in R, do tell me.
ReplyDelete"Good Journey"
ReplyDeleteDave learned how to use a ladle
when he was just a babe in a cradle.
In his teens he was a joker,
but he also learned to work and save.
And he eventually hired a broker
who found him hard-working and brave.
And so Dave established a new mark
and a remarkable career did embark.
Sorry, not much time to respond today. I have former students visiting & must prep the house to play Mr. Chips.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I’ll have time this evening to post again.

Owen, your poems are amazing these days. Delightful first one, and then your second one just cracked me up and made me laugh. And they're both beautifully constructed with enjoyable narratives. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteHave a good visit with your former students, Ol' Man Keith. I sadly lost touch with most of mine during the seven years of taking care of Rowland after his stroke. But I still remember them with much pleasure and gratitude.
CanadianEh!, hope your poor duped bloke was able to start rel-living his life again with some help. I always like your negativity with some hopeful outlook embedded in it.
Wilbur, am already looking forward to some more Chet and Lois news, when your next installment arrives.
Owen- yes, I noted the e but it is hard to avoid. The whole thing would need to be reworked if using something like l’amor I value or valour I value.
ReplyDeleteOMK- have a wonderful time wit( your former students.
Misty- I love your positivity, and wish Dave every success in his new career.
I spotted the W in Owen's first but couldn't find it fln
ReplyDeleteMisty, is Dave working for a broker? Ladle of course is a tough one. I had "ladling gravy on a plate" as a metaphor for a big undertaking (Nora has her doubts)
I agree with Misty's KUDOS* re. Owen's return to poetic beilliance..
OMK is one of those Wall Street homeless Mr Fried of FTX?

Note . I wasted #3 by having same letters in same position. I tend to rush on Wordle unless I'm stuck else I'm a 60 second man
It's fun to compete though
