  1. The candidate was on the apron of the stage
Waiting for the announcement to be made.
His opponent was a jester, a clown,
Still they had to see how the votes would go down.

Analysis in depth had projected his win.
What was surprising was the margin was so thin.
Results remained cloudy for the nonce.
Then the announcement came all at once:

The Senator elected, the challenger was bounced!
Democracy was saved – by the margin of an ounce!

  2. He was so fast he could make the engine sing!
To get from here to there was his thing!
    Almost faster than light,
    His time for the flight
Was calculated as just over nothing!

  3. Nice timing there, Owen, connecting your poem to the final senatorial contest in Georgia!

Both tonight’s political result & your verse give us cause for real pleasure!

    Today’s Jumble haiku:
(Actors are often blinded by stage lights, so they memorize how many steps to safely take on the “apron” [front of the stage] before the drop-off to the orchestra.
In King Lear, the Fool often romps in a circle around the king, but in a…)

    Sad Projection:

    The jester mistook
    the apron’s depth, hit the pit;
    his fate’s now … cloudy.

    H’Adjective Pro

    The day was cloudy,
    The sun’s rays weak
    In the depths of winter.
The knights readied for the joust,
    Their horses aproned in armour.
The King’s jester amused the raucous crowd
And the princess bestowed her scarf.
    Let the tournament begin.

  7. "Jester Jobs"

An apron of fog covered the cloudy sky
that obliged the jester to sequester.
He spent the day inventing new stunts to try
and did not respond to fans who did him pester.

When all this was over he again cheer projected
and this got him with the depth of his fans connected.

  8. Owen, wonderful to have you start this day with two delightful verses. What a treat--thank you for this Wednesday gift!

Ol' Man Keith, you used your theater experience to delightful ends in your King Lear verse this morning--made me laugh and cheer!

What an imaginative verse with horses that "aproned", CanadianEh!. Not a word you find in poetry very often.

With those two clever and brief Wordles, should I try a Wordle this morning? Am a bit daunted by these neat examples.

  9. With two strong hints, Misty, you ought to land the Wordle in one! Good luck!

Looks like your jester works an outdoor crowd—maybe at one of our renaissance faires?
Gray weather seems to have a way of shutting him down. Good thing he’s able to put his lockdown time to productive use!

CEh! ~ You worked that title to a fair-thee-well! Clev-ah!
You paint a fine picture of a bleak day.
Still, the tournament will carry on!
    Or will it?
You did cause me to wonder whether on chilly winter days the knights might refuse to don those cold metal outfits! Brrr!!

  12. I think we saw your clue, Owen. And now Wilbur has added his.
My guess is that Misty--and any visitors who may be seeking hints--look for the diagram first and only then seek for a clue.
