  1. Furloughs for All?

Ah, this marks another day of absence
from my service to Erato of Parnassus.
It is a welcome day, indeed, and one
I suggest we each & all may benefit from.

Now, I don’t propose we four take the same day off—
(unless, of course, we’re using it to play golf)
No! Closing down the page for a mass vacation
is hardly the point of my recommendation.

But we might find a way to stagger our days
for optimum unwinding, going disparate ways.
Let’s check with one another, each calling out his
or her favorites—after my Sunday “Dibs”!

  2. It was a wild winter day when the kitten did emerge.
The snow started coming down in a surge!
She fell in a snowbank and lost a mitten,
Then needed a splint, because she was limpin'!

The next week came a letter from the vet,
To remind the kitten that he was unpaid yet.
It was almost Christmas, so the bill was a pain.
Kitten had to promise it wouldn't happen again.

With that assurance, the holiday proceeded.
The tree inside gave a scent that was needed.
Under the tree, where the presents were present,
Kitten saw boxes and ribbons as most pleasant!

  3. If you drive a car in Santa Fe,
Don't let your hunger get in your way!
    It's a chili town,
You can wolf it down --
It'll knit a muffler in your innards, Olé!

  5. Presence over Presents

    You can rest assured,
    That upon my word,
    I thought I would splinter
    When that baby emerged,
On the coldest day of winter,
As to push I was urged.
    But I was soon smitten
By that cry like a mewling kitten.
    Such unpaid labour of love
The letter of the law must be above.

    Nothing more to say,
    Please be on your way.
Maybe bring a scarf and bouquet.
    For my Happy Mother’s Day!

  6. Ol' Man Keith,
I'll save my very rare day
from the blog to stay away
for a time when I'm feeling sick
    and cannot write or play.

    Owen
Glad your kitty had a cute Christmas
and didn't have to miss us.

    CanadianEh!,
    Happy Mother's Day! Your birth
clearly had the most awesome worth!

    Wilbur,
    Even when you're not here,
we send you good wishes and cheer.
