  1. It’s been a week of busy days
composing verse, from epics to lays.
Britain’s got a brand new king,
and I’m as worn as a sprung mainspring.
So gimme some time to recuperate,
& before we see Chuck abdicate,
I’ll be back again, to jubilate!

  2. Do you remember Little Iodine?
Red-head girl made her parents whine?
In comic strips and comic books
Her antics left her daddy shook!

Mischief was her stock in trade,
One and all her tricks dismayed!
She meant well, but the effect
    Of her endeavors were abject.

    Oblong newspaper comic strips
Were where her artist did depict
    Her foibles, in panels adjoined
    Told funny stories, all aligned.

    Disaster thwarted, in next strip
She'd be back, not changed a bit!

  3. Hungry grave robbers in Hungary
Have a special stew that's crumbly.
    There's no backlash
    From their goulash,
    It's not made with skullduggery!

  4. A little macabre today perhaps?
My third guess was a total WAG. I had to look up the definition (Scottish for pimple) when it was accepted.

  5. Hadn’t a Chitty Bang

The ghoulish sight left them shaken,
The adjoining lot held a job long forsaken.
    Drastic measures must be taken.
No amount of iodine could thwart the rust,
Muffling the sound effects was a must,
If repairing that race car not be a bust.

  6. Owen- I manage to work the W into my one offering, but you give us a splendid stand-alone poem, with synonyms and a hilarious stew version of the W. Bravo.
Plus a poem with all the J words, reminding us of comic strips of yore.

Misty- what a wonderful idea to promote recovery by the use of iodine and wine - balm for the wound and balm for the soul.
Happily, although shaken, you will still fit, and able to throw off any after effects. Fun rhyme.

Enjoy your day off OMK. I’m sure Chuck will need today to recuperate also.

  7. Ol' Man Keith
Looks like you enjoyed watching the coronation!
Let's hope the royal couple make a good collaboration.

    Owen
    I'm glad Little Iodine
is not a daughter of mine.

    CanadianEh!
Let's not let our children play Chitty Bang,
we don't want them joining a rowdy gang.
And thank you for liking my silly rhyme--
you've just managed to give me a Sunday smile.

    Wilbur
We'll be glad to see you--
just wanted to give you a preview.
