  3. My mother sends me vitamins, from A to Z.

    Some new potions,
    Or elixir lotions,
    All intended to strengthen me!

    Clever W clues today.

  6. I Ain’t Dee Fresh Tea

    I waited outside the gateway
    At the swanky event,
    Guests moving inward,
    Marvelling at the decorated tent
And hors d’oeuvres to be fingered.
    I remained on the patio,
My anxiety softening like melting snow.
    Before I go histrionic,
    How much more tonic
Can I slip into the Earl Grey?

  7. OMK- we both leaned toward the coping methods for anxiety disorders (or perhaps just a discomfort in social situations). Your meditation sessions seem healthier than my secret imbibing.

  8. "Odd Conflict"

    Frank hadn't the faintest idea
that there was anything to fear
until one day there was an event
on his patio that worries sent.

A neighbor came inward to his yard
    and Frank's favorite statue marred.
Frank had not met him often
but went over and asked why he did this.
The man said the statue made him cry:
it reminded him of something he missed.

    This did Frank's anger soften
and he forgave his neighbor's deed.
    His neighbor apologized profusely,
    and did his gratitude concede.

  9. Misty- sometimes we never know what might set people off. Frank was very compassionate to forgive his neighbour for marring his statue
(Frank must have a beautiful yard). Hopefully his neighbour can make some sort of restitution, and get some counselling for his issues. ( WC can even make your first two lines rhyme with his pronunciation)

  10. I had to read your follow-up comment, CEh, to realize what your poetic self was imbibing. For me, that "T" water means quinine soda, a refreshing summer beverage, lacking in alcohol until it's married with gin (Tanqueray, my fave).
But I take your meaning now. My light hypnotic trances (which imitate zen meditations) were certainly purer.

Misty ~ I dunno that I would be so forgiving of Frank's neighbor--unless the statue was a nude of the neighbor's wife.
I have only one statue in my garden--a bust of Will Shakespeare. I can't imagine a circumstance wherein that visage might cause a neighbor to weep. And even if he were a big fan of Marlowe or Jonson, I would not be at all so "understanding."

  12. I knew one of J's from C&L. Back when Charles "Saw a problem" with the pair getting married*

[To be continued, what is this big problem Charles has with Chet marrying Lois? Any ideas?]

    "pristine" chapel.
    —----

    {What's the big problem, anyhow? mused Chet}
Our nuptials in the chapel are hardly anything to be beset
With dire reactions. We've been pristine in our lovely romance
From the very moment we met and I fell in love at first glance.

A scenic reception on the PATIO with shrimp and some pastry.
It's been over a year now, does Charles think we're too hasty?
What could divert us from going ahead with our desire?
Please , at this late date we mustn't have a tragic misfire

  13. Today’s W reminded me that the first time I ever tasted G&T was aboard the Queen Elizabeth I, en route to Southampton from NYC, age 21.
In honor of that first lovely sip, I must be sure to add quinine to the next grocery list. (I already have the gin, ready to be wed!).
    It is summer, after all…

  14. Aha, Wilbur, I think I get it. The nuptials are to be NEXT year!
And all this time I worried there wasn’t enough time for them to see it through, not in fine poetic fettle.
    The more fool, me!

  16. OMK, I loved the peace and quiet of your haiku. And I agree with your comment about my verse today. But I always struggle to get the Jumble words in (event, patio, inward, soften, and the faintest idea) and this was the best I could do, even if forgiving that rotten neighbor made no sense.

CanadianEh!, your patio party sounds fabulous--I'd attend it in a heartbeat! And I loved your comment on my verse, and agree with you completely.

Owen, your mother certainly works hard to look after you. Did you follow all her advice and did it work?

Wilbur, sorry to hear about Chet and Lois's wedding planning problems. Hopefully they'll start getting them worked out. We'd all love for them to have a beautiful wedding, followed by a lovely honeymoon.

    Have a good night, everybody.
