Today’s Jumble haiku:
(I heard Swatches are liable to fall to pieces; yet another report says they can last a lifetime.
But …)
“Fancy This …”
My own Swatch got minced
in the wash—before it could
decay or affirm.

Very few rhymes fit today’s word.
There’s only “viagra,” but that would be absurd.
Try another way to find it,
a description to define it:
We speak today of heated rock,
not the “lava” kind, but under the chalk.
It is the “M” dwelling at the midst of the earth,
where the molten original is just like earth’s birth.
The answer?

ReplyDeleteGolden eggs may come from only a goose.
If you take a gander, wanting gold is no use.
But both enjoy succotash
Made from golden corn mash --
What's soup for the gander is soup for the goose!
Mrs. Gibson was often a grand-mama
ReplyDeleteWhose little urchins she oversaw.
When her imps she'd see,
"Mama G.! Mama G.! "
They'd shout out with much hoopla!

"Failed Project"
ReplyDeleteShe didn't want to mince her words
but the situation was absurd.
The swatch of fabric was in disarray
and tainted with some food decay.
It wouldn't work to make a dress
and the sewing project was a mess.
But her owner told her she favored a perm
and did a whole new project thus affirm.
Our hints may be for nought,
ReplyDeletefor Misty has said she’ll be gone.
Maybe she’ll try—and maybe not—
and maybe I’ll mow the lawn.
~ OMK
Wouldn’t a swatch, Misty, be way too small, anyway, to make a dress?
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you have time to post a two-stanza poem before taking off! Thank you!
Your girl is a lass of many talents, able to switch from dressmaking to hair styling as her situation changes.
I presume “her owner” refers to the possessor of the fabric swatch…?
Or else this skillful miss is an enslaved person in the bad old days!
~ OMK
Owner upsets me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's a robot? But if she's sentient enough to be upset, she still shouldn't be enslaved.
Hi everybody, I'm back after a fun and interesting day with old and new friends at the home of a wonderful couple who have been friends of mine for decades. Your haikus and verses and comments are all a delight--interesting and imaginative and thank you so much for posting them.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'm too tired to respond in the way you all deserve, but I'll look forward to getting back to a regular blog schedule tomorrow and will do much better, I hope. But in the meantime, thank you all for creating a delightful and interesting blog today.
