  1. Today’s Jumble haiku:
(Figs commonly reach choice eating-size when the outer skin encases red pulpy flesh. Two- or three-ply is enough for perfection, in light of today’s topic…)

    Figs Ply—‘Zen’

    Impala figs are
    tangy but edible. Watch
    for fewest layers.

Ah, do you still do the Jumble in the paper?
    —while inhaling that fresh ocean-vapor?
    And do you still dance by cutting a “ ….. “ ?

  3. Not sure what to feed your new animals. Here’s a suggestion.
    Fig Pie Then

You can make a tangy pie
With the fewest ingredients to buy.
Be sure to add the capers,
    And inhale the vapours.
    Watch the baking time,
    Listen for the chime.
    Impalas love it.

  5. Owen makes us search for the W today with his “close” clues. But Misty will have more success if she uses OMK’s rhymes.

OMK- I smiled at the direction your title took . And at the impala figs (what were we to do with that word?). Great back story to support your haiku. I may have unconsciously stolen your Vapor for my rhyme (but I Canadianized the spelling).

  6. "Lit Hit"

    Gordon arrived at the gala
    driving his new Impala.
His spirits were tangy and spry
and there was a good reason why:
They had finally published his book
with the title "When Pigs Fly."

He carefully watched all the reviews
when he got even better news.
His work was one of the fewest,
    he did surmise,
that won the "Best Animal Book" prize.

  7. Well, I got the Wordle right away, thanks to OMK's helpful rhyme clue. But when I went to the Wordle site, the answer was already posted everywhere. This has happened once before and, sadly, may be the new structure, where instead of posting and learning the answer it's already there when you get on the site. Hope I can figure out another way to access the chance to post a Wordle answer.

  8. Misty ~ You (& others) may recall that this was the reason for my complaining of Wordle's invasion of this site--that the daily answer is posted EVERYWHERE on the web.
It takes a great effort NOT to spot it, even if only out of the corner of one's eye.
We try to keep a clean blog here, but it is nearly impossible.

And that is why I finally gave in & decided to post my own hints for you.

  9. Looks like you went for the real thing, CEh! ~ I mean the graceful African antelope, and you fed it too!
I'm glad you appreciated my multi-ply figs, named after that critter. How was I to resist that perfect Spoonerism?
--although the image of Pigs Flying is in itself one of the beauties of our shared language, and Misty stuck with it, in book form yet!
She chose a third version of the horned beast--hers being the Chevy variety you toot in traffic!

Owen aims at several ways to come at today's W, in the end pronouncing his own verdict.

  10. Misty- I use this site for Wordle, and I never see anything before solving.
    https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html

Yes, Misty went with the car version of impala. I thought of that too late. And I didn’t follow through on the figs in my title.
Misty- I loved that you used the J reveal as Gordon’s book title. Since animal books are usually considered children’s fare, Gordon did well to win an award in an adult category.
