“Bend His Mess”
The social gamut
is in a sense the banner
of the life one lives.

I've had no brush with greatness in my life.
ReplyDeleteIt's just been the common toil and strife.
If famous I'll be,
It will be posthumously.
Still, to be rich would have been nice!

ReplyDeleteAt the flea market, out on the margin,
Dr. F. set the prices he was chargin'.
Full price was a soul,
A limb for a lesser goal,
And for a toe, get a Faustian bargain!
The alchemist set a banner for his shop
ReplyDeleteTo fence for things that were hot.
He had gold to spare, not a care.
But he only bought stolen wares.
He'd accept a full gamut of goods,
From embezzlers as well as from hoods.
Insurance fraud made for pure gifts.
Other types of cons were social grifts.
All this booty he placed in a pot
For teleport to some place it was not.
Then the pot filled with stuff that made sense,
From elsewhere, but here business meant!
It was an interdimensional scheme,
To launder loot to keep it clean!
Faust was an alchemist, so i thought this would follow his story, but it took off in a different dirction.
ReplyDelete"Business Mess"
ReplyDeleteTheir problems covered a gamut
that caused their firm to shut.
Things had gotten very tense
and closing all the shops made sense.
They meant to start a new business--
would it work this time better or less?
By designing a new social banner
they might create a wider spanner.
In the end their project was a success
and got them out of their financial mess.
Misty ~ One wonders at the business acumen that in the end bailed these folk out of their troubled (infirm?) firm.
ReplyDeleteIn building their new operation—on a bigger monkey wrench?—we may hope they re-engaged the services of all those employees who were “let go” when they shut their old money-losing shops down!
Good work, CanadianEh!
We know your time is limited today, so we are happy to see you.
And that you didn’t, er…whisk, uh, scrape, or… flick us off!
~ OMK
Thank you for the very helpful hint, Ol' Man Keith--it helped me get the Wordle on one try! Much appreciated. Sorry CanadianEh!, didn't see it in time.

And you're so right--it would be very sad if the new business in my verse didn't make every effort to keep their old employees.
Owen, sorry to say this--but I hope your alchemist goes broke at some point.
ReplyDeleteBent (to)Mussiness
ReplyDeleteIt was a banner week for dirt;
The litter ran the gamut from paper to shirts.
His social life he would not hinder,
The useless stuff he used as tinder,
And brushed the rest under the bed.
He had the sense to leave it unsaid.
I bring a late offering today. Enjoyed you all, but no time to comment.
ReplyDeleteI have another day out of town tomorrow for family birthday celebrations, and doubt I’ll make it here.
That's right, CEh!
ReplyDeleteNo point in drawing attention to your scat!
Any left-over litter should be left unstated.

Enjoyed your "mussy" poem, CanadianEh!, thanks for that fun. And have a great weekend with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteWill see the rest of you tomorrow!
