  1. Today’s Jumble haiku:
(There are many ways to comprehend the human species, and one is how they handle the hookless fastener, or “zipper.”
Prior to its introduction at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, people developed swift prowess with buttons—and many were impatient with the new-fangled “zip.” These would yank at the gadget, often tearing their garments in the process.
Others, more willing to give the “metal fingers” a chance, gained relief for their own digits and paved the way for the future’s plastic variation, the AI clip-ons hailed as “Velcro”…)

    Not Yet (the Promised Clasp)”

    My motto: “Zipper
    slowly, friendly; don’t Yahoo
    your way ungently.”

  2. Yacht Netting

    The plan was impeccable,
    Any yahoo was acceptable.
The motto - “Find the holy grail
    You must not fail!”
    The modus operandi-
    Open the zipper intently,
    Remove the cup gently,
    Get off the boat consequently

  3. OMK- what a backstory, but interesting, for your zipper haiku. Your motto is apt and succinct, with imagery of those impatient fingers.
My Spooner title sent me in a slightly different direction, and adding the W and O words compounded my trouble in creating a rational story. Imagination is required to find the prized cup, hidden in netting on a boat.
But considering that when I started here, I did not have any rhymes, I am proud of all my rhyming today. WooHoo (not yahoo), as Misty would say.

  4. "Courtship"

Jane found her partner on Yahoo,
and soon they began to woo.
He wrote her a loving motto
on a day they visited a grotto.
She gently fixed his problem with a zipper,
and he bought her a comfortable slipper.

    The relationship proceeded gently
and developed both emotionally and mentally.
    They have not married yet,
but their wedding day is set.

  5. Delightful verses from everyone this morning--many thanks!

Yes, Ol' Man Keith, it might be better to zipper gently rather than urgently, er, ungently.

And, CanadianEh!, I loved your rhyming 'impeccable' with 'acceptable.'

Fun start to what will hopefully be a great week for all of us.

  6. FLN: Thanks, Misty, for your kind reply yesterday to my “day off” poem. I think we understand each other, in that we expect—or at least hope for—acknowledgement of each contribution.
But also that a lack of such careful (caring?) response is not a sin of the first magnitude.

Thank you too for “Courtship,” in which you show us some of the gifts used by Jane & her partner to woo each other.
Your rhymes have a musical effect, and I’m grateful you’re giving us a peek at the most bedazzled period of their romance, when they’ve promised themselves to each other but have not wed yet!

  7. CanadianEh! ~ You & Monty Python!
Your brilliant Spoonerist title led you in a delightful (if impossible) direction.
Such cray-cray titles demand laborious backstories before they begin to make sense.
I think I misread your poem my first times through. I had the impression that the “cup” was somehow connected (by its netting!?) to a vital part of the ship—which is why everybody needed to abandon ship, “consequently” & quickly!!
But my later readings only suggest that once the sought-after cup is found, there is no longer a reason to remain on board.

  9. Misty- Jane has been fortunate in finding her future husband on Yahoo. They seem to have reciprocal aid - a slipper in return for help with the zipper (although I was a little worried about Jane’s virtue after fixing that zipper, but perhaps I was thinking of the urgent zippering!). But the wedding date is set.

Thanks for your comments on my rhyme. I must admit that I like the Rhyme Zone website for suggestions. That last word in the first line was the Orijinz word today. The Wordle was another word that directed my theme today.

OMK- your later interpretation is closer to my thought in creating. That title necessitated a boat; I figured that once the grail had been found and removed from its netting, the finder should make a quick getaway.
