Today’s Jumble haiku:
(I toyed [a pleasant word, eh?] with the idea of Spoonerizing the solution by fictionalizing a situation in pubs where the legal size to buy a pint would be a 3.75 foot tall arrow with a caption, saying proper customers “Were my Height for Beer.”
But I gave up on that & turned to my superstitions instead…)
“The Likely Way I Started My Month”
I said “Rabbit” thrice
& threw salt o’er my shoulder,
then … grabbed forty winks.

"Happy Birthday"
Turning forty, Fran a party threw,
hoping many friends to woo.
A number of pals came by that night
and did her some lovely poems write.
As a gift one friend gave her a rabbit,
knowing that caring for pets was her habit.
It was likely that this party might be her best,
for all her friends made Fran feel happy and blessed.
Glad you got your Wordle, CanadianEh!
That hint seems a clear giveaway!
Misty ~ Her hint should get you started well. Meanwhile, Fran’s birthday is a pleasant read for us. It reminds me that my mother had a pet bunny that used to eat at the table with us. When I objected to this, she said, “Don’t be unkind to your little brother!”
The poetic birthday also reminds me that your birthday is coming up soon. Yes?

The hotel treasurer reviewed the record of rentals for the month, and found the initial day had been booked far in advance for a milestone birthday.

Rabbit! Rabbit!
OMK- HaHa, we both used that rabbit in the same way (I had to have an addendum to my haiku!). I was not familiar with that usage until it was used at the LA blog. I can see why you gave up on that original Spooner attempt. Mine is not great.
Misty uses a real rabbit (and at least nobody put it into a stew!). Misty and I both thought of throwing a birthday party, only Fran had to organize her own party. But she is happy and blessed, and that is what matters.
Are you having a party, Misty?
Ol' Man Keith, wow! three 'rabbits' in your haiku this morning, what a pleasure.
And CanadianEh!, you too ended your party haiku with two bunnies!
OMK, thanks for remembering my December birthday. I will turn 79 years old on December 23, and no, there will be no party for me.
My parents didn't like hosting any parties, ever, and so I never had one until I turned 16 and then begged them to let me have a party. So I sent out dozens of invitations to high school friends and others and on the day of the party, Dec. 23, I got no presents. It turned out that all the kids assumed this was a Christmas party, even if I mentioned my birthday in the invitation, and that no presents were needed. Needless to day, that was my last birthday party.
So, it was your last and first b'day fling, Misty, all in one go!
We always had a mini-party on our birthdays,. just for family. Not big deals, but we had a cake of course--with candles to blow out--and sometimes paper hats and horns.
Addendums are very helpful, CEh! Along with titles.
You'll notice, I needed to stick a J-word in my title even after abandoning my Spoon attempt. (But I still sneaked my play on the title into my story.)
Your poem seems especially utilitarian, as a notation from the hotel's registration desk. If I read it correctly, all that's missing is the rate.

Ol' Man Keith, actually, I can have a mini-party on my birthday this year too. My son Josef and his wife and son arrive on Dec. 22, and so will be here for my birthday, Dec. 23. I will get Clauder to buy us a chocolate cake when he goes shopping, but I don't think we'll plan to put 79 candles on top. Actually, we could put 7 in one circle and 9 in another--that would do the job, wouldn't it?
Absolutely, Misty!
I'm happy for you--that you'll have a mini-party!
As for the candle count, we resort to all kinds of math tricks.
Your idea is a classic, to use one candle per decade, especially if you use 7 larger candles for the completed decades, and 9 little candles for the recent years.
There are also candles shaped like numbers. If you find those, you can get away with just 2 that spell out your birthday.
