There are several other Jumble blogs, but the ones I checked all started off by listing the answers. In this blog, answers can be either hinted at or masked by burying them in comments. No overt spoilers!
The starship was afloat in space, Wafting through the field of stars! Bound for a world, a far-off place, To settle free from strife and wars!
Captain Urth was a man of vision, He plotted a course thru the ether To prove that a colonizing mission Would provide for humanity's future!
Thus, while much of the world watched, The ship's engines to power gave birth! Thrown from the nest, a bird new-hatched, What pioneers flew from a lonely Earth!
I needed 2 hints on #3. What I thought were the last two letters became the first two. All other words, and the sol. came easily. The ETplus is holding a cup of coffee with two arms. What is the black object in hand #8? What kind of animal is behind the welcommer? Inquiring minds need to know.
I think the hot drink is only being held with one tentacle, with the other just near it. And the "black object" is actually his mouth. Now the animal in the background looks like a dog, a chihuahua, but I don't see anyone holding a leash, so it may be a squirrel.
Luckily this was fast and easy, too, along with the CW though the last word made me work for it. But I stayed afloat. I saw that the final solve was a question but with no verbs available the answer popped in.
Let's see... How fast was it? Well, let's count the time: from the moment I picked up my pencil until -- Nah - just kidding! I did it in my head again. Too swift to count the seconds.
I got all four items but can't seem to get the solution. I'm guessing the 5 letter word is a liquid, but can't figure out the first two words. Any hints or help? I've had a long, exhausting day with two doctor visits and am not at my sharpest.
Are we past the deadline on the east coast? I think I see where Misty was going - because these letters spell more than a single final answer. It's just that only one of the two answers can make sense. I'm guessing she was heading for the wrong one, i.e. HATH NO WATER? Right?
Yes, OMK, that was my initial wrong answer. But once I realized the five letter word wasn't liquid, I put in the name of a planet, and I think that helped me get the correct answer. I'll find out tomorrow, in any case.

Neat verses, Owen!
The four words went pretty quick but I toiled over the riddle. I thought I had it until Owen's poem. eg WHAT AN OTHER?
I knew that was wrong

Misty ~ As for the 5-letter word, consider where "they" are landing.
The 2-letter word has to be TO or ON (and it's not TO).
Then just look at the 4 leftover letters...

No, it isn't liquid, but solid ...
I thought I commented . I had something else for the riddle but I knew it was wrong the second I read Owen's verses.
The words went quick except #3.

Btw, the octopus is considered one of the most intelligent creatures on land or sea.
The Beatles wrote a song about their gardening proclivities .
And I'm sure Misty has the riddle . My erroneous guess had the first word, omk supplied the second and Owen the third .

Thanks to you, Ol'Man Keith, I got it. But of course I should have gotten it 12 hours ago. Still, I can sleep tonight.
