The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

The trip was getting boring, eight months Earth to Mars.
ReplyDeleteColumbus took less than three months, following his stars!
It was Max's turn to caulk the hull to limit leaks.
Such a mundane solution for damage space-dust wreaks!
Walking on the hull, he met a short green entity!
It was naked and unarmed, but shocked Max's equanimity!
It looked a lot like Gumby as it walked with limber steps.
Trod the deck sans gravity, spoke with airless breaths!
"Your morale was getting low, so I thought I'd stop by
To tell you that you're doing great, good as cherry pie!
Clients have been watching you since your first satellite,
But saying hello before now just didn't seem polite."

Skipped yesterday for no good reason.
ReplyDeleteToday's clues came pretty easily, but actually I thought the solution was meh. Your cartoon pointed the way more directly and was much more relevant for the solution than the newspaper one.
I enjoyed the poem a lot; total disguise of that one word in the solution was very clever but frustrating for a while. And Bhen looks a little like Gumby but definitely not as cute.
Nitpicky question: How did Bhen's voice carry without air?
Thanks for all you do, Owen.

ReplyDeleteDelightful poem, Owen, and it was fun to look for all the Jumble clues. And there they all were, along with the solution, but subtly scattered throughout the poem. Your top cartoon certainly is perfect for this Jumble, as Sandyanon noted, and what a great image of William! I did also like the lady lawyer in her neat suit in the newspaper Jumble cartoon, along with her diploma up on the wall. So, all around, a fun Tuesday Jumble experience.
ReplyDeleteOn closer looking at your cartoon, Owen, I know it's the Swiss guy, but he surely has a strong resemblance to Robin Flynn. Or maybe Errol Hood.
ReplyDeleteSandy: 😜.
ReplyDeleteI had trouble with the TINY ET and the ACKUL. When I jotted all the letters down I fortunately mixed the letters in and the first two of the first solution word popped out.
ReplyDeleteI love BHEN, what s cool ET. And Owen, A+ is rare but you hit the jackpot on your axotl(sic) l'ick

PS. Gumby was after my time. Now Howdy Doody...
