Just tried the Chicago Tribune site, which has the new daily jumble available at midnight Pacific time. Not today! Got an error message -- no puzzle available.
Hmmm....

We have it in the LA Times, so here goes...

Chicks and Pews
The flooding left everything swampy.
The lower duplex ain't fit for a zombie.
The river tore chunks from the berm on this side;
and then it rose high on the quick swelling tide*.
The water drowned everything in a raging path,
making no distinction with its marvelous wrath.
Churches and hen coops, all caught in the ooze,
What a holy, chickens**t mess, the chicks and pews!

I thought the riddle-solution mighty be "Snaps his picks". I couldn't guess the 3 ltr word. Duh. That would have given me two with the WCHSE left.

But I had it quickly with OMK's gloss.

I think I feel a poem in the air. I was hoping to see Owen today. OMK you filled in admirably. I see "guano" wouldn't fit rhyme and meter. Chuckle.

I hear Elmer can't hunt with the shotgun no more. Next thing ya know, ACME will be out of business and Wiley won't have his TNT.

What a shock, a lovely one for sure,
to see vivid primaries in today's picture.
I think Misty will appreciate them.
(Pretty certain she won't hate them.)

"Tough Morning"

Poor Misty needed a tonic
to figure out Jumble's cute comic.
She did get a chunk
but went into a funk,
a solution so swampy
made her feel a bit rompy.
Did her friend in the duplex
Her puzzle just hex?
No, it wasn't some tricks,
just a poor choice of picks.
But she got some relief
When she read Keith's sweet brief.

It's ever so nice
when the finale's a true Spoon.
You do a take, twice,
and croon a happy tune.

Meanwhile, Misty's pome
wiggles down the page
like Budweiser foam
or orange marmalade.

There's hope for mankind
now we've taken to rhyme.
Lit art confirms
all the best, free of germs!

No poetry in me. Too bad, but them's the breaks!!

I had a tough time with the jumble today, just couldn't pick the right spot for that four-letter word. Sigh..

That's a shame, Sandy. Truly.
I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy this one. I got a kick from the language stretch.
I guess I always appreciate the ones that permit a real Spoonerism. And the chance to create a mini-story to back it up.
