The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

"He Repents<"
Before the Rotary Club emcee had spoken forty words,
his introduction of the ornithologist was for the birds.

"Popular Ernie"
Ernie was a popular emcee
suffering from a sore knee.
He was almost forty
but still a bit sporty.
He could handle a rotary
and compose some poetry.
He was bright and well-spoken
and given to joking.
As a result it made sense
that he'd be the preference
to work with the stars
on this year's Oscars.
I was away from my computer, and thus from the site for most of the day.
I return to find it as I left it, nearly empty. I guess we Jumble-types are never going to catch on.
Misty ~ Your Ernie would stand a better chance of getting the Oscars' gig if the Academy would decide to HAVE a host. I haven't heard one announced for this year. They have gone two years without one, so chances are they'll do it again.
I see how you rhymed all the clue words in your first eight lines, then used the next couplet for a version of the solution--and, lastly, your final couplet for your joke. How very neat & precise!

Well, so kind to get your delightful response to my poem, Ol' Man, and just to have you check in. Many thanks for that.
But I miss all of our friends and blog partners? Where are you all?
Owen, we love your always wonderful verses. Are you feeling okay--we hope. And please come back if you have time.
Wilbur, your archaic, complicated poetic verses with all the Jumble answers buried in there, are such a treat for us. We miss you--please come back.
And Sandy, your often first responses commenting on how you found the Jumble and what you thought of the solution, are something I look forward to every morning. I miss you too--please come back tomorrow.
Good night, everybody, have a good night's sleep--and let's have a great day tomorrow!
I had the J solved and the riddle-solution (but I'm stuck on Friday's riddle.
Very economical OMK and Misty always manages to tell a story.
I just get tied up on other things. At least I've read the entire Ivanhoe do I should be able to wrap it up soon.
What next. The Idiot by Dostoevsky? I did love that novel. Or should I tackle LOTR? Two year project since Bilbo took six months I think. And Ivanhoe longer
Btw, as I alluded at CC, don't get too overwhelmed by Saturday's"Stella" xword.
It is doable even if you don't know the P&Ps and get initially completely befuddled by the clueing.
At least I'll have the pleasure of seeing the anon and Bobbis of the world P&M'ing.

It just occurred to me that my short poem this morning, just one couplet, might have caused some reader to think I was just blowing this off.
My aim is always to be as economical as I can be. This was the first time I actually managed to get all four clue words into a single line, the first line. It took longer to do this than usual. I fell asleep while trying variations-- before waking again around 5:30 to complete it.
These may not be the finest verses to be found, nor the cleverest hints to the Jumble answers, but the fans on this site are devoted.
