The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.
ReplyDeleteWe look to a poem to show our serious effort in embedding the J-words
or a few key hints suggestive of those words, but today we have…
“More Keys Forsaken!”
Whatever Words we’re given, in the Loosen to Yahoo range,
or from Skier to Permit, we simply wrack our brains.
We cram them all pall mall into random Quatrains—
and rarely quit (for we’ve got grit!)—
and try with pains to never change.

Ok, I admit I’m taking the easy way out tonight, with a poem directly addressing process.
ReplyDeleteThis allows composition unconstrained by the meaning of the J-words.
Usually I enjoy figuring how to integrate wildly different words…
Ah, but it’s also fun to have a rest, no?
Misty ~ The spirit of my ditty (the “grit”) applies more to you than anyone else!
You are surely our champ, day after day!

"Jumble Fumble"
ReplyDeleteToday's Jumble made me sneer:
come on, how do I rhyme SKIER?
I was sorely tempted to rhyme LOOSEN
with a crazy word like 'goosen.'
And who knew the meaning of YAHOO?
I certainly had no clue.
So this Jumble left me shaken
since every try was SORELY MISTAKEN.
Now I feel like a Jumble hermit
who will never get a PERMIT.
Ol' Man Keith, you are so kind
ReplyDeleteto say such nice things about me
when today's Jumble makes me feel
like I'm a bit out of my mind.
See! You prove my words by adopting my Saturday strategy—but taking it a whole step further (or back?).
ReplyDeleteNot only did you give focus to your process, allowing you to evade giving context to the J-words’ meaning, but you kept your tough practice of rhyming them.
How can I express it? You gave yourself half an out, a great example of Misty self-discipline!
And I loved the rhymes, even (or especially) “goosen”!

I loved your "Keys Forsaken" poem this morning, OMK, and it's exciting that we both seemed to feel that the only way to deal with those impossible Jumble words was to make them the topic of our verses. A good strategy for turning depressing material into a fun Jumble morning. Many thanks for your sophisticated way of dealing with this in your rhyme.

I hope Sandy, Wilbur, and Owen check in with us today. I miss them, even when we have fun with our verses.
ReplyDeleteI have made a few mistakes like that in the past, but no more! Picking myself up to get somewhere is enough of a chore.
ReplyDeleteThere she is! Hi, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteI hear you. I wrecked my back a coupla times over the years.
But I have been good of late. I no longer pick anything up. Including myself.
Fortunately our bed is high, so I can sorta pour myself down out of it.
Whatever soreness I experience these days comes from smacking into things.
