"Good Seniority"
ReplyDeleteFlora was old, but not a fossil
and still did some spirits jostle.
She was careful and frugal,
as her friends did google.
Her manners were smooth
which many problems did sooth,
though some talks she could scorch
with her humor, like a torch.
Her white hair made a lovely hairdo
which entranced one old man or two.
And one invited her out to a brunch
and the next week took her to lunch.
His interest in her he acknowledged
and she found this person quite polished.
So, though it seemed there wasn't a chance,
these old folks now share a romance.

I always read this blog, though I don't always comment.
ReplyDeleteWhat puzzles me today is that there are two sets of blank answer circles on my screen. Why is that? I get the first set, which uses all 16 clue letters and is clearly the solution. But what are the extra 15 blank circles? A commentary on the jumble? What? Am I just being dense?

I should remember how important it feels to receive feedback, & not just a Hey You!
Your Flora did well despite fears of aging. The menfolk liked hanging around. You are ncluded some nice rhymes while covering the qqusual field of J-words. We expect that of course, so I rarely point that out.
The couplet's, I mean.
What I'd love to see would be a more adventurous ABAB scheme. Isn't it time?

Glad you and Sandy checked in, OMK. I had enough trouble putting my verse together this morning that the rhyme scheme wasn't an issue. But lets see how next week goes.
